Facebook is a useful way of connecting with others, but just a few minutes of scrolling on my previously dormant personal site has reinforced for me how we humans can get caught so easily into unnecessary thought processes. What we focus on informs who we are every day. I hope the following inspires you.

I am writing today to let our community know that the Serpentarius Healing Centre is on the move again. For some years we have worked from our beautiful property in Taggerty, rural Victoria. It is time to move on, so our home and land are on the market.

We moved here in 1994 and have used organic and biodynamic practices ever since. No chemicals here for 31 years. We see ourselves as custodians of the land and feel honored that we have been able to live and work here for so long. Sitting at the base of Nanadhong/Cathedral Mountain, the energy of this place feels sacred and we are looking for new owners who appreciate this.

From the beginning we focused on nourishing the land, the local fauna and flora and creating a haven for us to grow our own fruit and vegetables, keep some chooks and live our beliefs. With a fully netted orchard which has variable access for birds depending on the season and the needs of the plants and us, two chook palaces and magnificent views, we sit on our verandah regularly saying "Another perfect day in paradise"

This year has been very dry, the driest we have experienced. We planned for water self-sufficiency from the start, and our house tank is still half full, there is enough water in both dams and we have not had to use the bore at all.

Driving home last night, a mother wombat shepherded her baby across the drive in front of me, such a heart warming sight.

If you know of anyone who may be interested in bringing new heart energy to this place, please share this,

Blessings and joy to you whoever you are and wherever you are,
Marg 🙏💛

Some time ago we stopped using facebook. This was a considered decision taking into account the way in which social media is shaping our lives and our world.

However, I have a message I wish to get out to people. None of us, including me, are doing enough for our environment. How many more disasters do we need to witness before we do more? It is easy to blame others: the person still using plastic bags; the politicians; those who leave it to others...let's stop all the blame and start taking responsibility for our own actions.

I WILL do more. For a long time I have taken my own glass containers to the butcher and our bulk health food shop, and I have let others know I am doing this. We are off the grid here and have not had to use our back-up generator since we upgraded our solar system. However, this post is about me recognizing that I can do more, please join me in this.

We are faced with other issues at this time that we also need to consider. World fighting is responsible for great pain throughout the world, physically and emotionally. Whilst I don't believe that my actions can do a lot to change this, there are some things I can do. I can develop my awareness of when I behave in ways that cause others pain, and attend to my own emotional pain so that I do not aggravate that of those around me. In this way I can interrupt the development of "mini" wars with the people around me. The work of Marshall Rosenberg is a wonderful tool that assists me in this aim:

Another great teacher is Pema Chodron. She teaches the Buddhist practice of Tonglen which is a wonderful tool for anyone to use. I use this regularly both for the healing, myself, other individuals and for the world generally:

Let us all do what we can with love and joy for 2022 and beyond,

Mars squaring Pluto tonight

We are just past the Solstice with Jupiter and Saturn conjunct and there is one more aspect to note before Christmas. Mars, god of war, and Pluto, god of the unknown, of darkness, hidden matters, power, and the potential for transformation, are squaring each other tonight.

When Mars and Pluto square in a natal chart, that individual can experience frustration and either strong surges of anger or collapsing into exhaustion. So what does that mean for the world at this time?

The world is in an extraordinarily difficult time, with frustrations boiling over throughout the globe and all of us quite exhausted by this strange era. How much worse must that be in areas where covid is so dominant?

Mars requires action, but combined in this way with Pluto, it can be hard to find the energy needed to act appropriately. This can result in extreme frustration and anger waiting to erupt. Pluto can bring up unconscious material and is often experienced with great fear, particularly the fear of annihilation. I wonder how many are experiencing that right now in our world...far too many. Pluto rules death which is the great unknown for all of us and death has dominated 2020.

The potential of this aspect could be that the frustrations and fears with us now can become the drivers of action which leads us to transformation. Ask yourself, what needs to be transformed in our world...and how might each one of us transform something of our thoughts, beliefs, actions, to begin to move towards a better world.

Mars squares Pluto quite frequently, last doing this in November 2019, so not an unusual aspect. However this aspect will be felt more strongly as it comes hard on the heels of the Jupiter Saturn conjunction and will square Jupiter and Saturn in just 3 weeks time.

Mars square Pluto can result in blame being the focus rather than acceptance of responsibility. Be aware of how you are judging others at this time and be prepared to own your part in what is going wrong in your life.

Pluto can be likened to a compost heap: first there is the need for things to rot down; then comes the transformation of that rotting material into something which can support new growth; and then the avocado and pumpkin shoots start pushing their way towards the sun.

If you are feeling as though all around you is hopeless, know that this time will pass. Take heart. Pluto pushes us to the extreme of darkness and it is in the reaching of this deep place, often filled with despair, that we turn the corner and begin to rise once more towards the light.

I once worked with an artist who, after a profound Pluto experience, came to me and said: "I have learned to welcome my depression, for when I allow myself to sink down into the experience of that darkness, I know that I am about to find my inspiration again."

That is what I wish for the world and all beings living together here, that we find our inspiration to change our interactions with Mother Earth and all living beings who live here with us, so that a new order can begin to dawn. Let us turn our thoughts into actions which make a difference.

Make a difference in life, starting now, perhaps just in small ways. Watch the ripples flow out from your actions and may your heart rejoice in the good you are bringing to our world,
Blessings,
Marg

Saturn is now in Aquarius - Saturn often constrains things and Aquarius is symbolic of internet technology and new ways of connecting. No surprise the internet has been very patchy today! When Jupiter goes into Aquarius on Saturday it may offset the constraints of Saturn, connectivity on the net will be easier but these two planets will continue to dance around with first one dominating then the other, for some time to come 😊

Further astrological movements

The small planetoid Chiron, is stationary today at 5 degrees Aries. When a planet is stationary its energy is more potent so today we are challenged to develop Chiron awareness. Chiron brings the potential to further develop awareness, however to become aware sometimes we need the experience of pain. Chiron brings awareness through pain, emotionally and/or physically.

Perhaps go a little slower today physically and emotionally and focus on your here-and-now experience and also your impact on others. Many will be more sensitive today both emotionally, physically and also psychically, as Chiron enhances our intuition. Intuition and imagination are closely linked so do not let your imagination seduce you at the expense of your intuition.

Then on 17th December Saturn enters the sign of Aquarius. The last time this happened was 21st March 2020 at the beginning of the first major lockdowns around the world. Saturn asks us to focus on what structures we need to put into place and Aquarius is the sign of humanitarian and planetary consciousness. By April this year we were all noticing the lack of pollution in the skies and also in world waterways. Many of us celebrated this and there was hope that we could maintain some of this for planetary health. Sadly the pollution mounted again as soon as human beings felt safe enough to go back to their old ways of living and working, focusing on monetary gains rather than human or planetary well-being.

This time, when Saturn enters Aquarius, it is followed on 19th December by Jupiter. Jupiter and Saturn are already conjunct, but reach the peak of that conjunction on 21st December. Jupiter enhances whatever it touches in the heavens so their is an augmentation of the Saturn lesson.

The world is at a tipping point in many ways. The world is strongly focused on this financially and politically, but the most important tipping point is the health of our climate. We need to focus on this and be prepared to take action before it is too late.

Humanity has been creating imbalance in our world for centuries. Prior to industrialization and the move towards more centralized living and more centralized production of food, we lived more locally and the world was able to maintain balance. Since the urge towards mass food production and the changes this brought in our farming practices, the animals of our world have been taken away from their natural balance and this has resulted in extinctions and also over population, not just in humans. The overpopulation and crowding of some species and humanity's close contact with these species has resulted in the crossing over of viruses from other species to humankind. HIV was the first virus which demonstrated this to us noticeably, but the origins of HIV was largely ignored.
Covid-19 is the latest virus to cross over and will not be the last.

The Jupiter/Saturn conjunction is a display that many of us will observe for its beauty and dramatic heavenly statement. The planets perform a heavenly dance and the science and art of astrology is to interpret this. Interpretation is based on historical observation and exploration of symbolism.

Jupiter and Saturn are two of the great patriarchal figures of the our solar system and when working together harmoniously they bring about balance. Saturn is the first to enter Aquarius at this time and it symbolizes containment and contraction. Jupiter is following Saturn very closely right now and it symbolizes expansion and movement outwards. Our physical existence depends on these two forces being balanced. Each time we breathe we are using these forces in a more or less balanced way as our lungs expand outwards, drawing life giving air in, then reduce back down allowing what is not needed to be expelled in the out-breath.

Modern life focuses strongly on both ends of the polarity of expansion and contraction. There is a tendency for humans to want to expand more and more in business, personal assets, new experiences and much more. At the same time there is a tendency through fear to hold on more and more to what we have. We are doing a polarized dance of contraction and expansion, rather than finding a graceful movement between these two forces. We live in an era when Saturnine contraction and control, and Jupiterian expansion and largess are both being experienced in their extreme forms.

So how will this conjunction impact on us and our planet? My examination astrologically earlier in the year, pointed to a wave of learning in December that would most likely synchronize with a very difficult surge in covid-19 infections. Sadly this has proven to be correct. However astrology is not fatalistic, it does not dictate what will happen. Astrology shows us the potential of the time and it is our choices which send us down one potential or another.

In Victoria we are fortunate that our government has been quite Saturnine about the need for lock down and Victoria has shown the world what can be done when most members of a community are willing to do what will serve the community well in the long run. It was a particularly hard road for Melbourne, but that city is now reaping the benefits as is the rest of Victoria.

This Saturnine focus in Victoria is now being balanced by careful expansion outwards again. Careful release of the lockdown combines the caution of Saturn with the urge to expand out which is Jupiter.

We have also witnessed some extreme lockdown measures in some parts of the world with some people being welded into their own homes to contain the virus. This extreme Saturnine move horrified the wider world. Such Saturnine controls are happening around the world, even in some of our own homes, with coercive control now being recognized in many parts of the world as pathological and even criminal.

Whilst in other places we are witnessing a Jupiterian refusal to contract resulting in rampant increase in covid-19 infections and deaths. Jupiter without the balance of Saturn is as bad as Saturn without the balance of Jupiter.

The current Jupiter/Saturn conjunction is happening on the solstice, Summer in the Southern Hemisphere and Winter in the Northern Hemisphere. The solstices are the turning points of the year as Earth's movement changes its relationship to the Sun around the world, and heralds in a change of seasons.

This era of change is so complex that we cannot see the full picture whilst we are living through it. Perhaps we will never fully understand all that is happening right now and what humanity's lesson is. This time is far bigger than covid-19. Astrological aspects can be viewed as signposts that are a gift from the heavens. We would do well to reflect on what the current signposts are showing us.

What we can all do is pause at this time, celebrate the beauty of the Jupiter/Saturn conjunction, and reflect on whether our own thoughts and actions are using the forces of contraction and expansion in healthy and balanced ways. Your breathing pattern will tell you a lot about your personal balance. With fear we hold onto our breath more and with panic there is, at the same time. an imbalanced urge to expand the lungs more and more, to push more and more air into already inflated lungs, with no space for relaxation and exhalation. This can happen to all of us.

Try the following experiment: sit somewhere quiet where you will not be disturbed; close your eyes and notice your breathing for awhile, allowing your breathing pattern to be whatever it is without trying to control it. Now place your left hand on your heart and continue to notice your breathing rhythm. After awhile, take your hand away and notice the difference in that experience, then place your hand back over your heart area and again observe. Continue to do this for awhile, just noticing. When you are ready, let go of this practice, sit quietly for a few minutes, then get on with your day. Notice if there is anything different about how you approach your day after this exercise.

There will be another astrological update in a few days,
blessings on your journey of expanding awareness,
Marg

Astrological update

December is a very big month astrologically. You will have heard about the Jupiter Saturn conjunction, however there are a number of other movements that are active from 14th to 24th December which add to the complexity of these times.

Over the next 12 days I will be exploring these movements and what they may mean to us.

There is a solar eclipse on 14th December which takes place at 5.18am Victorian time. The Sun and Moon will both be at 23 degrees of Sagittarius with the Moon blocking some of the Sun's light. This will not be visible from Victoria and it is dangerous to look at the Sun so let the media show you pictures rather than trying to see it.

If your birthday is that day or 24 hours either side of this it is a good time for you to look at the belief systems you have both about yourself and external matters, see if those beliefs are really a good representation of who you are or who you want to be, and be willing to go on the adventure of rediscovering yourself. Eclipses are complex and this does not cover the entire meaning of this eclipse for you.

For Australia, this eclipse indicates that we need to be more aware of our communications, particularly public ones, and to moderate any tendency to expansiveness that may go beyond the truth. We have seen a lot of this happening overseas and it is easy to criticize in someone else, but this is a time to look at self and discover the truth of unrealistic expansiveness in our own culture. Part of this is the "she'll be right" attitude that was very strong in Australia a couple of generations ago and is a form of denial.

For the broader world including Australia, this eclipse is likely to bring some difficulties in legal proceedings, travel and education. We don't need astrology to tell us that given what is happening around the world right now, but when something is happening that is linked to astrological movements, particularly an eclipse, then the lesson involved for all of us is a deep one.

Eclipses happen in pairs or groups of 3 twice yearly so are not that unusual. However when they synchronize with other major transits we need to look more carefully at what they mean. An eclipse happens when the Sun and Moon are in relationship to each other in a way that interferes with the light of one or the other. A Solar eclipse is where the Moon passes between us and Sun, blocking some part of the Sun's light for a short time. The Sun symbolizes the conscious self, and also has symbolized leadership and rulership.

The Moon symbolizes the unconscious self, our memories and dreams, our early emotional relationships and our relationship with our feelings and needs in current time. When the Moon blocks the Sun's light, matters of the Moon dominate for a short time. This eclipse is a good time to reflect on our needs and how we go about ignoring them or having them met in appropriate ways.

Where this eclipse sits in your natal chart will indicate what the emphasis of this time is for you. If you are a client of ours and would like a copy of your natal chart so you can look into this in more detail, please contact us. We will provide you with a copy of your chart for AU$5 or a copy and a brief look at what this eclipse means to you for $25.

In my next astrological update I will explore the stationary position of Chiron on 15th December and the movements of Saturn and Jupiter into Aquarius on 17th and 19th of December respectively.

In these changing times, go gently, take good care of yourself and those close to you. Extend that care out into the community where you can, and come from a place of grace and love where possible,

Marg🙏

Yesterday I met a woman who was not wearing a mask. I approached her kindly and asked her kindly and with curiosity if she would talk to me about why she wasn't wearing a mask. She agreed and we spoke for a few minutes. She had seen others without masks and doesn't like wearing it so took hers off. She also said there is more to health than wearing a mask.
I stayed empathic to her and explained that I find masks uncomfortable too, but let her know that I wear a mask as much to protect her and her family as to protect myself. I then asked her gently why she was not willing to do that for me.
I also agreed with her that there is more to health than wearing a mask and explained that I am a naturopath and that health is my life but that I know covid is real, I have treated it and know that it can be pretty nasty.
As we parted, on quite good terms, I asked her if she would reconsider her decision not to wear a mask and she said she would.
It is not always safe to speak to someone in the way I did; approaching a stranger on the street with a confronting topic. However I took that risk in the safest way I could for her and me and I'm glad I did.

We invite you to comment here about what you have done recently to reduce your footprint on Mother Earth and to help the greater good of humanity. Here is some of what we have been fortunate enough to be able to do.
Driving has been part of our life which I know has Earthly consequences. Many years ago I chose to have a smaller car with better fuel economy. She's a bit long in the tooth now but I see no reason to ditch her when she is still going well. Buying a new car would mean adding to my footprint considerably and I am serious about helping humanity and Mother Earth recover.
Post covid we will no longer be driving regularly to Melbourne but will occasionally come down for a few days to see those of you who still wish to see us personally, and the rest of our work will be local or online.
We grow as many of our own vegies and fruit as we can here and when we have surplus share with our neighbours. Living in the country we were able, about 25 years ago, to go fully solar and put in a worm toilet.
Soon we will have chooks and are looking at devoting a small section of land to growing millet (for me and the chooks!)
I wonder if these comments are helpful or if they are reinforcing for some their distress at not being able to do these things. That is not my intention and my heart goes out to all who would like to live in this way but are struggling to find a way.
Humanity's sufferings are of great concern and many of us are looking at the world and feeling despair at the enormity of our problems. A small step towards helping humanity is to walk through our world with kindness and respect for others and being willing to stand up and speak when we see things that should not be happening. Those who stand up and speak are often cruelly attacked verbally and even physically and I understand that speaking out must be done in a safe way.
I am also working on noticing when I judge others and checking myself to see if I have jumped to conclusions without enough information and if there may be another perspective that I am missing that would change my judgement.
We invite you to comment here with your own thoughts and also please share with us some of the things you are to help Mother Earth and our troubled humankind.
Blessings and love on your journey forwards in this ever changing world, together we can change things, Marg

Dreams and You
Many people are telling me of their dreams at the moment. Carl Jung called our dreams "the Royal road to the unconscious" and I have found my work with clients' dreams a rich part of our work together.
Thank you to those clients who have inspired me to offer a dream exploration workshop using zoom, with the potential of this continuing as a fortnightly meeting. If you are interested in joining this workshop, email me at margwood7@gmail.com and I will send you further details, Marg Wood

The centaur body/planet Chiron is stationary today. The word planet is used here with it's ancient meaning: wanderer - therefore all bodies that have movement in our skies are considered planets including the Sun and the Moon.
When a planet is apparently stationary from our perspective on Earth its impact on us is momentarily emphasized and it is an opportunity for us to maximize our learning. Planets go stationary a couple of times a year - often we go through a phase of feeling the energy of that body without understanding what this means.
I have chosen to talk about Chiron as this planet symbolizes so much of what we need right now.
Chiron's mythological journey started with abandonment. His mother was a nymph who was being pursued by Cronos. To escape him she transformed herself into a horse, but Cronos was aware of this and followed her as a stallion. After coupling with her in this form he left.
When Chiron's mother gave birth to him she found that her infant son was half horse and half man and she realized what had happened. Her pain was so great that she begged the gods to turn her into anything rather than leave her in such pain. She was turned into a Linden tree and the infant centaur Chiron was left without either parent.
Perhaps Chiron is here to teach us about generational wounding as well as abandonment.
Apollo found the abandoned Chiron and fostered him. He was educated by the best tutors and became a wise and well informed being who understood science, mathematics, the healing arts, astrology (which later became astronomy) and psychology. He was revered by all and was immortalized by the gods in honor of his wisdom and good deeds.
Chiron mentored and assisted many and became good friends with Hercules, even helping Hercules to make the poison which enabled him to kill the Minotaur. However Hercules' excitement at his success with the Minotaur led to Chiron being wounded by the poison he had created. This was a lethal wound but Chiron was immortal so he was doomed to carry the pain of this wound with him forever more.
Suffering deepened his understanding of pain and this enriched his work as healer. His compassion and wisdom was sought far and wide. Eventually he sacrificed his immortality on behalf of Prometheus. His death set Prometheus free. There was grief among the gods at his loss and they once again immortalized him, this time as a star, Serpentarius, now symbolic of healing, compassion and wisdom.
Chiron was discovered in 1977 at the beginning of an upsurge of interest in the healing arts, also just prior to the transfer of HIV into the human population. This era brought great pain and also a determination in many to find healing through the healing arts rather than medicine.
Today we are experiencing Chiron stationary, a twice yearly event, but this time the world is experiencing an upsurge in Covid-19 that is being received in many different ways. Chiron is conjunct Mars at the same time, and briefly the Moon will also be in that conjunction. When planets are in strong relation to other bodies when they are stationary the lesson is augmented.
Mars is our passion to live and to do what we need to do - when the expression of this passion is interrupted this passion can result in frustration, irritation, anger, violence, even fury.
The Moon is our need to be secure and our attachment to those we identify with as family. The Moon is our early emotional nurturing and our capacity to nurture self and others. It is our recognition of feelings and capacity to translate this into recognition of needs.
When Chiron and the Moon and Mars come together the challenge is to stay aware of self, to reflect on where we are right now and how to move forwards in the best way possible for all concerned.
The Chiron part of this lesson requires us to come from a compassionate place with a healthy understanding of how we all contribute to what happens around us and willingness to take responsibility for our impact on all we come in contact with.
Compassion needs to be balanced with clear thought so that situations can be assessed kindly and yet firmness used when that is necessary. Always as human beings the good of all concerned needs to be considered, however this is not something that was in our basic education.
What does this mean personally for you and me? My thoughts are currently as follows: Be willing to develop your awareness of who you are and what that is like for the people around you; be willing to stand up and name what is wrong in the world whilst coming from a kind place; use your own experience of pain to develop your understanding of self and other further.
Compassion and wisdom; what is your awareness of these two extraordinary forces? I am aware that I am fallible and do not always come from a place of wisdom and kindness. I am human! However I am using the opportunity of Chiron today to further develop my awareness of this and to learn to manage my own wounds better so that compassion and wisdom are more possible.
Remember that compassion for self is a strong part of the learning here...
