Every child’s sensory system speaks its own language...sometimes quietly, sometimes loudly.
When we learn to listen, everything changes.
Here’s what’s really happening beneath the surface:
🌿 Sensory Seeking
Their body is searching for input: movement, pressure, sound...anything that helps them feel “just right.”
🌿 Sensory Sensitive
Their nervous system doesn’t filter enough. The world feels loud, bright, itchy, and unpredictable.
🌿 Low Registration / Under-Responsive
Their brain filters too much. The signal doesn’t always come through, so they might seem distracted, slow to respond, or “in their own world.”
🌿 Mixed Profiles
Most children don’t fit neatly into one box, and that’s completely okay. Every brain processes the world differently, and that difference deserves understanding, not correction.
When we stop labelling behaviours as “good” or “bad” and start seeing them as communication, we can finally meet our children where they are and help them feel safe in their own skin. 🌼
