HTMA is considered a ๐—ณ๐˜‚๐—ป๐—ฐ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ฎ๐—น ๐˜๐—ฒ๐˜€๐˜, meaning it looks beyond diagnosing disease and instead helps us understand how the body is functioning โ€œ๐™ช๐™ฃ๐™™๐™š๐™ง ๐™ฉ๐™๐™š ๐™๐™ค๐™ค๐™™โ€ including patterns related to stress response, energy production, and nutrient balance. Minerals play an important role in how our bodies regulate energy, stress, hormones, and many other core processes, yet theyโ€™re often overlooked when weโ€™re trying to understand complex or ongoing health issues.
โ €
HTMA allows us to step back and look at longer-term mineral patterns in the body, which can sometimes reveal important clues when symptoms have been ongoing or difficult to piece together.
โ €
Hair mineral testing looks at the minerals stored in your tissues over the past 2โ€“3 months. Unlike blood tests, which show whatโ€™s happening in the moment, this test gives us a longer-term picture of how your body is regulating key minerals, helping to reveal mineral patterns that may be contributing to symptoms, rather than focusing only on individual nutrient deficiencies.
โ €
HTMA essentially provides a ๐—ฏ๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ฐ๐—ต๐—ฒ๐—บ๐—ถ๐—ฐ๐—ฎ๐—น ๐—ฏ๐—น๐˜‚๐—ฒ๐—ฝ๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐—ป๐˜, revealing mineral patterns that may be contributing to fatigue, stress resilience challenges, hormonal imbalance, and other chronic health concerns, helping to develop more targeted, personalised nutrition, supplement, and lifestyle strategies.

โ€œWired but tiredโ€ is a common pattern I see in clinic.
โ €
It often reflects adrenal dysfunction not failure, but dysregulation.
โ €
Cortisol follows a natural circadian rhythm.
It should rise in the morning, taper gradually through the day, and allow melatonin to take over at night.
โ €
Chronic stress, irregular sleep, blood sugar instability, alcohol load, inadequate nutrient intake and ongoing inflammatory strain can disrupt that rhythm.
Over time, this affects:
โ €โ€ข Insulin balance
โ €โ€ข Immune signalling
โ €โ€ข Blood pressure
โ €โ€ข S*x hormones
โ €โ€ข Skin health
โ €โ€ข Appetite
โ €โ€ข Weight (loss or gain)
โ €โ€ข Mood stability
โ €โ€ข Energy levels
โ €
You may still be โ€œcoping.โ€
But coping often comes at a cost.
โ €
Many people try to push through this phase.
โ €โ€ข More coffee.
โ €โ€ข More productivity.
โ €โ€ข More pressure.
โ €
But when cortisol levels remain elevated for too long or begin dropping too early, the body compensates.
โ €
That compensation is what keeps you functioningโ€ฆ but not functioning well.
This is where we look deeper not just at whether cortisol sits within a lab reference range, but whether it is functioning at an optimal level for healing, resilience and long-term health.
โ €
Addressing adrenal dysfunction isnโ€™t about forcing rest.
โ €
Itโ€™s about identifying what is driving the imbalance and supporting the body strategically so energy levels and overall resilience can rebuild.

When most people think of inflammation, they imagine redness, swelling, or obvious pain. But low-grade, systemic inflammation often presents very differently.
โ €
๐—œ๐˜ ๐—ฐ๐—ฎ๐—ป ๐—น๐—ผ๐—ผ๐—ธ ๐—น๐—ถ๐—ธ๐—ฒ:
โ €โ€ข Brain fog
โ €โ€ข Poor sleep
โ €โ€ข Fatigue that doesnโ€™t improve with rest
โ €โ€ข Insulin resistance
โ €โ€ข Digestive disruption
โ €โ€ข Adrenal dysfunction
โ €โ€ข Mood changes
โ €โ€ข Increased pain sensitivity
โ €
Inflammatory signalling doesnโ€™t always scream.
Sometimes it simmers.
โ €
Over time, that simmering strain affects immune balance, gut health, nervous system function, circadian rhythm, blood sugar stability and liver detoxification pathways.
โ €
Low-grade inflammation is influenced by many factors - stress physiology, insufficient sleep, alcohol load, nutrient deficiencies, environmental toxins and metabolic strain.
โ €
This is one of the most common patterns I see in clinic, people whoโ€™ve been told their tests are โ€œ๐—ป๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—บ๐—ฎ๐—นโ€, yet they donโ€™t feel well and they know something isn't right.
โ €
I support people with chronic, complex, inflammatory and stress-driven presentations by looking for the underlying drivers, not just managing symptoms.
โ €
Healing begins when we identify the pattern, not just the symptom.
โ €
It isnโ€™t about blame.
Itโ€™s about understanding what your body has been adapting to.
โ €
When we reduce the inflammatory load and support detox pathways, immune regulation and metabolic resilience, the body often responds steadily, not dramatically, but sustainably ๐ŸŒฟ

โ €
You stop trusting your body.
You stop trusting yourself.
โ €
And the stress response never really turns off.
Thatโ€™s not weakness.
Thatโ€™s biology.
โ €
Feeling seen and believed isnโ€™t optional in healing, itโ€™s foundational to nervous system regulation and sustainable recovery.
โ €
When the body no longer has to defend its reality, it can begin to settle.
And from that place of safety, real healing becomes possible.

For bodies that have been inflamed, stressed, dismissed, or pushed too hard, force often backfires.
โ €
More supplements.
Stricter diets.
Pushing through fatigue.
โ€œDetoxing harder.โ€
โ €
For many people, that just creates more stress โ€” not more healing.
โ €
Sustainable change doesnโ€™t come from intensity.
It comes from understanding what the body actually needs.
โ €
Healing that lasts starts with safety, not pressure.
Sometimes progress begins when we stop forcing and start listening.

23/02/2026

When systems are deeply connected, treating them separately creates confusion.
Thatโ€™s why people feel like theyโ€™re chasing their tail, fixing one thing while another falls apart.
โ €
Complex illness requires pattern recognition, not fragments.
And no, youโ€™re not imagining it.
โ €
A lot of people start to feel like theyโ€™re โ€œtoo complicatedโ€ or that something must be wrong with them because nothing stays resolved for long.
โ €
In reality, itโ€™s often that no one has stepped back and looked at the whole picture.
The body is interconnected. When we understand the pattern, things begin to make more sense and thatโ€™s usually where progress starts.
โ €
If youโ€™re ready to understand the pattern instead of chasing symptoms, thatโ€™s exactly the work I do.

Symptom relief can be helpful but it isnโ€™t the same as healing.
โ €
When care focuses only on quieting symptoms, the underlying drivers stay active.
And the body keeps escalating until itโ€™s heard.
โ €
For many people, symptom relief helps temporarily โ€” but without understanding whatโ€™s driving the pattern, the body just keeps escalating.

Your gut microbiome is home to trillions of microbes, itโ€™s a living ecosystem that is constantly responding to what you eat, how you live, and even how you feel. When that ecosystem becomes disrupted, symptoms like bloating, fatigue, reflux, and irregular bowels often follow.
โ €
๐Ÿญ. ๐——๐—ถ๐—ฒ๐˜
A diet high in processed foods, refined sugars, and saturated fats can deplete beneficial bacteria and weaken your intestinal barrier. Meanwhile, diets low in fibre, resistant starch, and prebiotic-rich foods (like legumes, oats, garlic, and onions) starve your good microbes. Even small changes can make a big difference, by adding more whole foods, plant-based fibres, wholegrains, and fermented foods, you can reduce inflammation, increase microbial diversity, strengthen the gut lining, and improve digestion and absorption.
โ €
๐Ÿฎ. ๐— ๐—ฒ๐—ฑ๐—ถ๐—ฐ๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป๐˜€
Certain medications such as antibiotics, NSAIDs, and proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) can disrupt your gut microbiota, alter gastric acid balance, and damage the intestinal mucosa (gut lining). Over time, this can lead to dysbiosis (an imbalance in gut bacteria that can cause bloating, abdominal discomfort or pain, gas, fatigue, food sensitivities, and irregular bowels), intestinal permeability (โ€œleaky gutโ€), and affect how nutrients are absorbed and how your immune system responds. Supporting your gut while on medication with probiotics, anti-inflammatory and mucosal-supporting herbs, and with a diet rich in nutrient-dense foods can help protect the gut lining, restore microbial balance, and minimise unwanted side effects.
โ €
๐Ÿฏ. ๐—ฆ๐˜๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐˜€๐˜€
Chronic stress doesnโ€™t just live in your head, it lives in your gut and affects how it functions. Stress hormones like cortisol and adrenaline rise when youโ€™re under pressure, and this can slow or speed up motility, impair digestive enzyme release, and weaken the gut barrier, leading to inflammation, dysbiosis, and food sensitivities. Over time, this can also affect how well your body absorbs nutrients and regulates immune function. Simple daily practices like mindful breathing, spending time in nature, gentle exercise, or meditation help calm your nervous system, support your gutโ€“brain axis, and restore healthy digestion.
โ €
The good news? Your gut has an incredible capacity to heal when given the right support. Through food as medicine, targeted herbal and nutritional therapies, stress management, and other lifestyle strategies, balance can be restored โ€” from the inside out๐ŸŒฟ
