I’ve had an amazing weekend learning how to make Sneakers!
I was invited to join a test class with . I am now an accredited teacher and keep an eye out for classes coming soon.
I have lots of ideas ready to implement and I may already have the tops completed for a pair for Sarah featuring Dinosaurs. Just waiting for the soles

It is Mental Health Awareness Month. 💛
Did you know that sewing can positively support our mental health? There are many ways in which it can do so including increasing mindfulness, boosting self-esteem, and providing social connections.💛
💛Sewing provides a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction. Even completing a small project can help boost self esteem.
💛 Provides community and support. Being part of an online community or joining a quilting group that meets every month helps combat loneliness.
💛 Sewing has a repetitive nature that can be calming and meditative.
💛Sewing gives you a sense of purpose and meaning. Especially when sewing for others.
💛Promotes a sense of control and order.
💛Gives you a sense of gratitude and appreciation for handmade items and the time and effort that goes into creating them.

A Finish to start the year!
3D Popstar, pattern from Fat Quarter Shop. My Guild, the Brisbane Modern Quilt Guild had a Sew a long at the end of last year and this was the pattern we followed. I used some fabrics from my stash and it’s quilted with a pantograph called Star Heart. This quilt is being donated to the Guild for their community Quilt program. These quilts are given to the Salvation Army for Domestic Violence Victims. Hopefully this quilt will give some comfort to someone that needs it.

In my spare time I’ve been stitching a couple of birthday presents. For my niece I made ‘The write stuff’ with a sketchbook. Pattern by Annie. For my mum I also used a by Annie pattern, ‘Trinkets and Treasures’. I’m obsessed by cute zipper pulls at the moment. I used one of Fairy Bread on the sketchbook and cute Koalas on the Trinkets and Treasures.
