A public health alert for hepatitis A occurrence in Tamworth has been released.

Health services are working together to reduce spread and keep people safe.

Please read through the following slides to know what to look out for and what to do.

If you feel unwell, or have similar symptoms, please contact your GP, local health clinic or AMS as soon as you can. You may be tested (a simple blood test if needed) and offered a vaccine to help protect you and your family if it's recommended.

APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN: Indigenous Health Scholarships Program 🌟

Are you an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander student thinking about a career in health? This scholarship could help support you on your journey.

Administered by Indigenous Allied Health Australia (IAHA), the Indigenous Health Scholarships Program supports mob who are enrolling or already enrolled in eligible entry-level or graduate entry-level health qualifications — from Certificate IV through to university degrees.

• Up to $5,000 available for 2026
• Paid in two instalments of $2,500 per semester (if eligible)
• Applications close midnight Sunday 15 February 2026

Eligible study areas include:
• Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care
• Allied Health
• Medicine
• Nursing & Midwifery
• Mental Health
• Dentistry & Oral Health

The program is designed to empower more Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, including students from rural and remote communities — to start and complete health studies and strengthen our future workforce.
