Thank you Jennifer Daley Equine Sports Massage for trusting me with your precious mare Montana.
Montana was assessed by her veterinarian and it was determined she sustained a hamstring tear and a large hematoma pooled below the injury. Montana was quickly treated with various holistic modalities and showed fantastic improvement. After a while her progress plateaued and a pesky hardened hematoma remained. A hardened hematoma usually indicates that the body has not fully absorbed the pooled blood and has progressed past the initial clotted stage. Jen reached out to me to see if PEMF could help. PEMF (low- high frequency Pulsed Electro-Magnetic Field) therapy increases blood flow within minutes and red blood cells get separated or “charged” and if there is a rouleaux formation (clumping of the red blood cells, which also restricts oxygen delivery) or the lymphatic drainage is sluggish, then PEMF application will boost red blood cell function and help open up the lymph connectors allowing the body to reabsorb the “waste” and flush it out.
Each photo is taken straight after the PEMF session to demonstrate the increased blood flow. After just one session you can see the bulging hard mass has flattened (over a few days), it also has moved lower and decreased in size. After the second PEMF session the size of the affected area has reduced again and partially softened. The results after the 3rd PEMF session are yet to be seen but in my experience, we have done enough cellular work to let the body do the rest. Montana is also pampered with red light therapy providing the desired nanometer spectrum range 650-830, massage therapy including crucial myofacial mobilization techniques and cycloid vibration therapy (equissage hand unit) to support this amazing process.
