Position Purpose
The Trainer and Assessor/s is responsible for delivering quality training and conducting fair, valid, reliable, and flexible assessment for units of competency on the RTO’s scope of registration.
The role ensures compliance with the Standards for RTOs (2025), relevant Training Packages, accredited courses, and organisational policies and procedures.
The Trainer and Assessor contributes to positive learner outcomes, industry-aligned training delivery, and continuous improvement activities of the RTO.
Key Responsibilities
Training Delivery
* Deliver training and facilitate learning in accordance with the approved Training and Assessment Strategy (TAS) including but not limited to
HLTSS00068 Occupational First Aid Skill Set
HLTAID009 Provide Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation
HLTAID010 Provide Basic Emergency Life Support
HLTAID011 Provide First Aid
HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an Education and Care Setting
HLTAID013 Provide First Aid in a remote or Isolated site.
HLTAID014 Provide Advanced First Aid
HLTAID015 Provide Advanced Resuscitation
HLTAID016 Manage First Aid Services and Resources
HLTWHS005 Conduct Manual Task Safely
22578VIC Course in First Aid Management of Anaphylaxis
22556VIC Course in the Management of Asthma Risks and Emergencies in the Workplace
PUAEME008 Provide pain management
UETDRMP007 Perform rescue from a live low voltage panel
UETDREL006 Work safely in the vicinity of live electrical apparatus as a non-electrical worker
HLTHPS006 Assist clients with medication
CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support
HLT21020 Certificate II in Medical Service First Response
HLT33021 Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance
* Contextualise training to meet learner, workplace, and industry needs while maintaining training package integrity.
* Ensure training is inclusive, culturally safe, and accessible to diverse learners.
* Provide accurate information to learners regarding course requirements, assessment processes, and support services.
Assessment
-Conduct assessment in accordance with the principles of assessment and rules of evidence.
-Use approved assessment tools and resources aligned to units of competency.
-Provide clear instructions, timely feedback, and assessment outcomes to learners.
-Maintain assessment integrity, including reasonable adjustments where required.
-Compliance and Quality Assurance
-Comply with the Standards for RTOs (2025), Training Package requirements, and RTO policies and procedures.
-Maintain accurate, complete, and secure training and assessment records.
-Participate in validation, moderation, and continuous improvement activities as required.
-Identify and report compliance risks, incidents, or opportunities for improvement.
-Industry Engagement and Currency
-Maintain vocational competency and current industry skills relevant to the units delivered and assessed.
-Maintain current knowledge of changes to Training Packages, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
-Participate in professional development activities to maintain training and assessment competence.
Learner Support and Professional Conduct
*Provide appropriate support to learners, including referral to LLN or wellbeing support where required.
*Maintain professional boundaries and ethical conduct at all times.
*Uphold confidentiality, privacy, and workplace health and safety requirements.
Scope of Delivery and Assessment
The Trainer and Assessor is authorised to deliver and assess only those units of competency listed on the RTO 46288 Trainer and Assessor Scope Authorisation Register, subject to:
Holding required training and assessment credentials
Demonstrated vocational competency
Current industry currency
Mandatory Qualifications and Requirements
Training and Assessment
Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122) or
Diploma or higher-level qualification in adult education (as permitted under the Standards for RTOs 2025)
Vocational Competency
Relevant vocational qualifications and/or equivalent industry experience aligned to the units delivered and assessed.
Industry Currency
Evidence of current industry engagement and professional practice relevant to the scope of delivery.
Other Requirements
-Current Working With Children Check (if applicable)
-National Police Check (if applicable)
-First Aid certification (if relevant to units delivered)
