Pelvic organ prolapse is common but living with symptoms doesn’t have to be 🤍

As part of Pelvic Organ Prolapse Awareness Month, Jess is breaking down what pelvic organ prolapse (POP) is and the signs and symptoms to look out for.

You may experience:
▫️ A feeling of heaviness or dragging
▫️ A vaginal bulge or pressure
▫️ Difficulty emptying your bladder or bowels
▫️ Symptoms that worsen throughout the day or with exercise

While prolapse is common, it’s not something you simply have to “put up with.”

Our Pelvic Health Physiotherapists can help assess your symptoms and discuss management options tailored to your goals and lifestyle.

So… what does a pelvic health Physio actually do all day? 👀👩🏼‍⚕️

It’s a question we get asked all the time.

While many people associate pelvic health physiotherapy with pelvic floor exercises, the reality is that no two days look the same.

Days in the clinic can look like:
🤰 Birth preparation consultations
🤱 Acute postpartum recovery support
🏋️ Return-to-gym and return-to-sport assessments
💗 Pregnancy-related pelvic girdle pain management
🩺 Standard physiotherapy consultations
☕ A much-needed coffee somewhere in between

One of the things we love most about pelvic health physiotherapy is that it extends far beyond pregnancy and postpartum care. It’s about helping women feel confident, informed and supported through every stage of life.

Which part of a pelvic health physio’s day surprised you the most? Let us know below 👇

Meet Molly 💗💀

Reformer Pilates instructor. Allied Health assistant. Fellow espresso martini hater. Ear wiggler.

She’s OCD about cleanliness (great for us), always has a lip balm within reach and her current whole personality is Reformer Pilates and frozen yoghurt.

She’ll welcome you with open arms. She will NOT welcome your crocs and socks. Or your PJ pants. We don’t make the rules, she does.

Come meet Moll in one of her classes that everyone is raving about 🤩 Link in bio! 💗

Your first pelvic health appointment should leave you feeling informed, not more confused.

So here are six questions Jess urges you to ask, and keep asking until you get answers that make sense:

1. Can you explain what’s happening to me in language I actually understand?
2. What’s the one thing I can do right now that’s going to help me move forward?
3. What activities can I do, and what should I be modifying?
4. How am I going to know if this is improving?
5. How do I know if this is getting worse?
6. What does my recovery and my interventions and my appointment rhythm look like for me?

The goal of your first appointment isn’t to have all the answers. It’s to leave understanding what’s happening, what you can do about it and what comes next.

If you haven’t asked these questions yet, you still can. Book a follow-up or send us a DM.

Hot takes that might just change your life 👀

Jess and Mel are calling it out, the things women have been told are “just part of life” that are absolutely NOT normal.

Leaking. Pain with intimacy. Period pain that stops you in your tracks. Pelvic pressure. Bladder chaos. Hip and pelvis pain in pregnancy. Joint pain hitting different now you’re in perimenopause.

Common? Yes. Normal? No.

You don’t have to put up with any of it, and that’s where we come in.

Book in with our pelvic health physio team, link in bio.

Here’s the thing about our bodies , they are constantly changing.

Cyclic change. Life season change. Developmental change.

And yes, many of the signs and symptoms that come with those changes are completely normal.

But most women don’t realise, just because something is common doesn’t mean it’s something you have to silently accept.

Whether you’re navigating puberty, perimenopause, postpartum or anything in between, please don’t assume that every change just comes with the territory.

There are weird and wonderful symptoms that belong to these seasons of life. And there are also real interventions available for them.

The problem is, how are you supposed to know the difference between what’s change-normal, what’s change-common and what actually warrants support? You’re not, that’s not on you.
That’s exactly why we believe so strongly in preventative, informed healthcare.

Not waiting until something is bad enough to act on. Coming in earlier, understanding what your body is going through, knowing what it’s changed needs are so that if and when something does need intervention, you’re already informed and already ahead.

Informed body autonomy is everything.

You cannot look after your body if you don’t understand it. So seek advice. Seek guidance. Seek understanding.

We’re here for exactly that.

Book with Jess or Mel via the link in bio, or start with a free 15-minute Discovery Call if you’re not sure where to begin.
