🌍 World Pneumonia Day
Pneumonia remains one of the most common reasons people with neurological or respiratory conditions end up in hospital, but with the right support, we can help to prevent this.
At Compass Allied Health, our Physiotherapists, EP's, OTs and Speech Pathologists all play a vital role in helping our clients stay healthy, active, and out of hospital.
For children and adults living with neurological conditions, several factors can increase the risk of pneumonia, including
💨 reduced cough strength
🫁 weak respiratory muscles
🧍 changes in posture or mobility
🍽️ swallowing difficulties
That’s where targeted therapy makes a real difference.
Our team provides
✔️ Respiratory physiotherapy and airway clearance training
✔️ Breathing and lung expansion techniques
✔️ Cough assist and secretion management
✔️ Swallowing and airway protection support
✔️ Collaboration across our multidisciplinary team to align care
✔️ Cardiopulmonary rehabilitation and exercise to build cardiovascular capacity and endurance
Together, we’re proudly supporting long-term respiratory health and reducing preventable hospital admissions. 💙

✨ Snacks & Tracks 2025 ✨
On Sunday we celebrated our annual Snacks and Tracks event — a special day to recognise all the incredible achievements our amazing clients have made this year! 💫
We had an absolute blast with mini train rides, yummy food, face painting, craft, and plenty of fun and games. 🚂🎨🍭
Every year we’re more and more inspired by the little people who fill our days with joy, laughter and wonder. 💛
There’s still a little bit left of 2025, but we’d like to take this moment to wish all of our wonderful clients and their families a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! 🎄⭐

✨ Client Spotlight! ✨
Meet Lachie, 80 years young and absolutely giving it his all! 💪
He’s been working hard in his neuro rehab since sustaining an incomplete spinal cord injury 2 years ago. Lachie has progressed from sitting with trunk support to sitting independently, standing, and even taking a few steps during sessions! 🙌
We just love the effort, consistency, and positivity Lachie brings to every session and to the Compass community. 💙 👏

🥳 We love equipment delivery day! 🙌
Today Physio Rach set up this client’s new walking frame with the help of Brad from Astris PME, and they just loved it!
Special mention goes to OT Alyssa, AKA the bubble master! 🤩
Did you know, walking frames offer children:
🫧 Physical benefits like improved bone density, muscle strength, and circulation.
🫧 Better cardiovascular and respiratory function.
🫧 Improved digestion: Movement and gravity can help promote better digestion and bowel function.
🫧 Significant social and emotional gains such as increased independence, confidence, and opportunities for social interaction.
They allow children to move more freely, explore their environment, and participate in activities with peers at eye level (like bubble play!), which can lead to improved well-being and quality of life.

✨ We are so proud of this little legend and the effort she’s been putting into her walking! 💪 A big shoutout to her amazing family for making the trip from Narrabri so she can access the BWS treadmill and work with her incredible PT/EP team. 🙌
Body weight supported treadmill training is backed by research for improving gait and mobility in children with CP — and we’re seeing that progress in action. 💙
