A Christmas message from Pastor Ian Lutze 🎄

It’s a part of human nature to seek to put back together things that are broken, to find light amid darkness, to see the silver lining around the dark cloud. We’re witnessing this is the story telling around the Bondi shootings, finding the preciousness in the lives lost, the heroism of those who stepped in. Christmas is also a celebration of light amid darkness, hope amidst despair: “For unto us a child is born, unto us a Son is given.” “His name is Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” We suffer and experience loss, individually and collectively. But together we find hope. And it’s there before our eyes, because it is Christmas. Celebrate well, and remember those struggling to find hope. Renewal comes, and it is God’s gift and our task! ✨

✨ From all of us at Lutheran Homes Barossa, we wish our residents, families, staff, community members and volunteers, a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Thank you for your ongoing support, kindness and connection throughout the year — it truly means so much to us all.
To mark our final days before Christmas, our wonderful staff came together to enjoy a BBQ lunch. It was a lovely way to celebrate, reflect, and thank our team for their dedication and hard work throughout the year. We look forward to continuing to care, support and celebrate together in the year ahead. 🎉💛

✨ Christmas cheer filled the room!
Over two special days, our Christmas Family Functions brought residents and their loved ones together to celebrate the season. There was laughter, colourful outfits, heartfelt catch-ups and many beautiful moments shared between generations around the tables.
The joy was capped by a surprise visit from Santa, delighting the young and young-at-heart.
A sincere thank you to our incredible team who made it all possible — from the preparation and set-up to serving on the day and everyone behind the scenes. These moments of connection are what make our community so special.

The doors were buzzing with festive cheer, smiling faces, and plenty of Christmas spirit. We are so thrilled with how successful the day was — and it wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible support of so many people.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped bring the event together:

Celebrating Excellence at the Leecare Awards! 🌟

Last week, several of our staff attended the Leecare Forum and Awards Presentation in Melbourne — a major annual event hosted by the wonderful Carolyn Lee and her son William.

For those who may be unfamiliar, Leecare is one of Australia’s leading aged care software platforms. Their annual forum brings together sector leaders to share innovation, strengthen practice, and celebrate exceptional contributors.

We are incredibly proud to share that two of our own team members were recognised at this year’s awards:
✨ Clinical Support Nurse, Tanya Snaith – Assessment Star Award - Tanya’s nomination described her as “an assessment guru who guides and mentors new clinical staff with assessments, new resident information, likes & dislikes, family engagement and more. Residents and families are drawn to Tanya’s pleasant nature.”
✨ Clinical Support Nurse, Samantha Gibbs – The Quiet Achiever Award - Sam was celebrated as “an assessment and care planning superstar who engages well with residents and families in our dementia unit to achieve great outcomes with care and service. Sam is known for her friendly, confident manner.”

We are so proud of Tanya and Sam for the skill, compassion, and dedication they bring to Lutheran Homes Barossa. Congratulations to both of you , your recognition at a national level is truly well deserved. 🎉
