Group and private yoga classes with a therapeutic and individualised approach and a specialised Lifestyle program, Harvest Your Health. Beverly teaches yoga in the tradition of Sri T Krishnamacharya, teaching yoga to suit the changing needs of each individual person. The Yoga is based on Patanjali's 8 limb approach - using each as a tool to support a movement toward the goal of Yoga. Classes are currently held in various locations in the Taree (NSW) and surrounding areas. Beverly formerly taught yoga in the Melbourne CBD and surrounding areas for corporates, small businesses, community groups and also private one-on-one tuition. The Yoga is in the traditional style as taught by Professor T Krishnamacharya, widely regarded as one of the most influential yogi of modern times. He taught yoga as it applied to the student in front of him so that it was beneficial for that person's needs, traditionally teaching one on one and also applying yoga in a therapeutic way. This yoga has often been referred to as viniyoga, however, it doesn't have a 'label' as a style because the yoga is adapted to suit individual students' specific needs so what may suit one student, may well not suit another so this is where the yoga is adapted. The yoga postures (asanas) are practiced in a specific sequence with a goal in mind that meets the needs of the student. There is a strong focus of co-ordinating movement with breath so there is a linking of body, breath and mind. Each yoga practice can be modified or adapted to suit varying conditions, whether physical or emotional, seasons, or needs at specific times and making sure the practice is suitable and safe for each individual whatever their age, ability or otherwise. About Beverly
I love teaching and I love being a student which is great because as I've realised over the years, life is forever changing and everyday there's a new experience. Learning from my practice, life and continuing studies, I can share my experiences and glimmers of insights with students. I've been practicing yoga for over 23 years and teaching since late 2008. Over this time, I've personally experienced tremendous benefits from my yoga practice. Initially I regularly turned up for my yoga class to have a physical exercise, to stretch and strengthen my body and then with time, my connection with yoga deepened and I knew this would always be my life. I don't have a 'story' as such how yoga has healed me but what has happened is that over time, the practices started to subtly change some of my behaviours/patterns (samskaras) - for the better - and then I began to enjoy not just the physical benefits (because I've remained remarkably healthy) but also the positive changes to other layers of my being and gaining confidence and self-belief to move on to achieving things I didn't even contemplate I could do. Along the way I've accumulated experience and knowledge through a myriad of studies in Australia and India. I have an Advanced Diploma of Yoga Teaching following a two year teaching training course with the Australian Institute of Yoga at the CAE, Melbourne. I also trained and studied in other yoga styles and traditions for many years. I'm currently training and studying in the tradition of Professor T Krishnamacharya who inspired thousands of practitioners worldwide. I am now a certified teacher in this tradition and a certified Yoga Therapist with the IAYT. My ongoing studies include exploration of the different tools of yoga including asana (yoga postures), pranayama (breathing techniques), meditation, relaxation, philosophy and the ancient art of vedic chanting.
