One of my favourite aspects of teaching yoga is planning. I’ve spent waaaaay too much time on this part of my process but I learn more and more as I go deeper and deeper into the teachings. These are just 3 of my favourites Donna Farhi ‘The Breathing Book’, Sally Kempton ‘Meditation for the Love of it’ and Kenneth Cohen ‘The Way of Qi Gong’. All bangers. All relevant. Thanks gurus.

🌀 Empowered Creativity: A 6-Week Winter Yoga Journey
Reclaim your creative spark through yoga, journaling, and sacred guidance.

This nourishing winter series invites you to honour your inner artist through intentional movement, breath, and reflection. Guided by the energy of Hindu deities, we’ll explore a soulful blend of asana, pranayama, meditation, and journaling—woven together with weekly themes inspired by The Artist’s Way.

Each session is a journey inward: cultivating strength and softness, devotion and self-direction, discipline and deep permission. Through this sacred rhythm, you’ll reconnect with your unique creative voice—and leave each week more grounded, clear, and empowered in moving forward.

There is a silence in the season of winter when coupled with deep listening reinvigorates (and sometimes redirects) our purpose and our true heart felt intentions. Every year that I live on this planet, I enjoy a little longer lingering in this heart warming womb space.

How has this winter season been for you?

This winter season for me, began with a lurgy and in letting it run its course, it has had me in an ‘extended healing hover pattern’ of bathing in winter sunshine, reading wonderful fiction books (The Bee Sting by Paul Murray (thank you Benny) is my new firm favourite!), walking slowly, breathing myself into the moment and listening to how to restore my body, mind and spirit in slow nourishing aligned ways. I have taken time away from social media which has been wonderfully liberating. I have also begun work on a project which has been in my heart for years and years and years, it is slow deep heart felt work. Anyhoo just thought I’d say hi.

'You have to have dark in order to show light, just like in life.'
Bob Ross

Bob was such a wise soul, so uplifting, inspiring and down to earth. I love how he speaks to darkness and light - it makes so much sense, especially when we have spent a little time in the dark (which all of us have and do from time to time). If there was only light or only darkness we would have no contrast in our paintings or in life. I have had a week or so of darkness as I was 'benched' by 'the lurgy'. It has been a waiting game, taking it day by day, to see when I felt called to come out to play again. Thank you for your patience and kind messages while I rested.

Thankfully the lurgy has left and now my energy levels are returning which feels wonderful. Our health really is everything!!! So a few things that I have been reminded of during this time, true for me - maybe not for all:

- our health is of utmost importance but every now and again it is normal to get sick, the rebuilding makes us stronger.

- wallowing in the darkness has some great benefits - helping us to process the mud before we ascend to the light, making our light that much brighter!

- being in the dark calls us to consider where we are directing our energy on planet earth - digging deep into the question of what is most important.....

- mostly the darkness teaches us to enjoy the light - have fun, play, be outside, get into the sunshine, out into the garden, touch the earth, feel the cold and the warm, open up to all of life.

Just as Bob suggests 'If you have light on light, you have nothing. If you have dark on dark, you have nothing. Just like in life. You gotta have a little sadness once in a while so you know when the good times come'.

And just like that the gifts of Bob and the darkness are enmeshed into the wisdoms of this human form. Each of us a living light that occasionally delves into the shadows so we can remember that life is a balancing act.

The heater is on and our practice now is to keep warm!

In appreciation of both the dark and the light.
With great love blessings, goodness & namaste
Amanda

Happy New Moon

If you are into the cycles of the moon you may have noticed feeling a call inwards, you might feel like being a little less active during this phase right before the New Moon comes in and you might notice you are called towards the shadows ... what is laying beneath the surface...

Notice and observe it all and at 1.02pm this afternoon and afterwards you have a potent time for crafting your intentions for the coming cycle.

What do you wish to expand into?
What is no longer serving you?
What messages are embedded within your dreams, your body, your inspirations?

Happy New Moon to you all! This is a big one so make the most of this planting time. Reminder - it doesn’t always need to be about doing - it could involved resting and being - especially as we - in the southern hemisphere head into the cooler months of the year. Pic above taken at my son’s footy game a few weeks back. The halo around the light reminds me of a massive dandelion.
