Are you setting goals that are achievable?
So often I hear from clients, “I’ve tried, but I just can’t do it. It’s too hard!”. This is usually because the driving motivation to exercise or the goals are tainted or totally unrealistic & unachievable.
It’s so important when programming an exercise plan, to work out what the ‘REAL DRIVE’ for the exercise plan is & come up with SMART goals to help achieve these.
S - specific
M - measurable
A - achievable
R - realistic
T - time-bound

As I mentioned earlier, I’m doing the swim leg of the Team Noosa Triathlon. Before I went for my first swim in December (6 weeks postnatal) I set myself two goals:
Goal 1 - swim 1500m, in 30mins, in 3-4 months time (March/April)
Goal 2 - swim 1500m, in 25mins, in 8-9 months time (Aug/Sept)
I did a time trial on my first swim for 1500m & did I it in 34:48.5mins. Last week it was time to see if I’d met Goal 1. I managed to swim the 1500m in 30:13.2mins, 4.5mins faster & only 13 secs off my goal. VERY HAPPY with this. As I’ve only got to the pool once, occasionally twice a week, I was so happy to see this result. My weekly Pilates class 🍐 Pear EP & Physiotherapy] & my home strength training & regular walks has helped me get there. I’m so excited to see how the next 4 months of training goes 🏊🏽♀️🚴🏽♀️🏃🏽♀️🏋🏽♀️🧘🏽♀️
