💧 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘆 𝗵𝘆𝗱𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 – drink plenty of water, even if you don’t feel thirsty
🏠 𝗞𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗰𝗼𝗼𝗹 – use air conditioning or fans, close blinds, and take cool showers
🕶️ 𝗔𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘁 – plan activities for early morning or evening and avoid strenuous exercise during the hottest part of the day
👵 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸 𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀 – older people, young children, pregnant women and those with medical conditions are at higher risk
🚗 𝗡𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘃𝗲 children or pets in cars, even for a short time

Know the warning signs of heat exhaustion and heatstroke: headache, dizziness, nausea, confusion or fainting. If symptoms are severe or worsen, seek medical help. In an emergency, call 000.

Generations Op Shop has kindly donated $2,000 to support Tatura Hospital and Parkvilla Aged Care.

Manager Jacqui Hall recently presented the donation to Mel Jackson, Director of Nursing at the Tatura Campus.

We are very grateful for the generous support from Jacqui and the team at Generations Op Shop, who continue to be valued supporters of our facility.

The donation will be discussed with residents at the next residents and representatives meeting, to help decide how it can best support our community.

💦🏊 Did you know that while swimming is a blast, pesky germs and parasites might lurk in pool water? 😮Don't worry, the GV PHU Guardians have got the top tips to keep the pool pristine!

Follow these five steps to splash safely:

1️⃣Shower with soap before diving in 🚿
2️⃣Wash hands with soap after the loo or changing nappies. 🧼
3️⃣Nappy changes belong in designated areas. 👶🏽
4️⃣Avoid swallowing pool water! ❌
5️⃣Stay out for 14 days if tummy troubles have been around lately! 🤢

Tatura Hospital and Parkvilla have had a fresh new look, with new carpet installed throughout the facility.

The upgrade includes the front hospital lounge, administration area, Associate Nurse Unit Manager and Director of Nursing offices, as well as the Parkvilla hallways and meeting room.

This completes the full carpet replacement project and complements the new carpet installed in the Parkvilla residents’ lounge earlier this year.

We are very grateful to our Community Reference Committee for their generous financial contribution, helping create a more welcoming and comfortable environment for residents, patients, staff and visitors.

Wondering how long the wait in the Shepparton Hospital Emergency Department (ED) might be?

GV Health has launched a new ED Dashboard on our website, providing real time updates on:
• Current demand (from Normal to Extremely Busy)
• The longest expected wait time
• How many patients are waiting to be seen
• How many patients are currently being treated

This tool is designed to help our community understand demand on the ED and make informed decisions about whether to attend the ED at Shepparton Hospital.

Congratulations Robyn!!

Last week at GV Health’s Annual General Meeting, we proudly recognised volunteer Robyn Fennell as the recipient of the 2025 Companion of GV Health Award.

Robyn’s award acknowledges voluntary contributions that go far beyond longevity – a decade of service marked by dedication, compassion and impact. Since beginning her volunteer journey in February 2015 with Heartbeat Victoria – Goulburn Valley Branch, Robyn has:

💙Supported cardiac rehabilitation patients at GV Health every month
💙Coordinated Heartbeat volunteers, rosters, social activities, weekly walks, newsletters and served as an office-bearer
💙Led fundraising efforts for vital cardiac and emergency equipment, benefiting GV Health and surrounding rural services
💙Extended her service to GV Health’s Tatura campus

Robyn is admired by staff and patients alike, and her tireless efforts have significantly improved cardiac outcomes across our community. Even while facing personal health challenges, alongside her husband (also a Heartbeat volunteer) Robyn has remained a dedicated and inspiring presence.

Her extraordinary service makes her a truly deserving recipient of the Companion Award.

On this International Volunteer Day, we celebrate Robyn and all volunteers whose generosity strengthens GV Health and enriches our community.
