My name’s Josh and I wanted to share a little bit about my story with pain.
I’ve grown up loving surfing, kickboxing, and strength training, and worked as a civil engineer. Throughout my late teens and early 20’s I pushed my body hard with all these activities. I loved it. But during this time I lived with chronic lower back pain, for about 8 years.
I used to see chiro’s and physios for my pain and different injuries that I accrued. I stretched every day. I exercised. But nothing ever cured the issues that I had.
Chronic pain eventually took a toll on me, and with poor mental health and gut health combined, I eventually I burnt out. I stopped all my hobbies for a long time. And quit my job.
For 3 years I took time exploring my own body with gentle basic movements and meditation, and realised the careful balance between movement and rest that our body and mind needs to function optimally and pain free. A very experienced massage therapist helped show me the problem areas and misalignments that I had to fix.
With help, I fixed my chronic lower back pain, through many tools including massage/fascia work, movement, rest, psychology, gut health, TCM and more. I found a passion in helping others, and know the best way I can is through massage. I’m currently a Cert IV qualified massage therapist, and excited to complete my studies in remedial massage this year!
