“Neuroception is a conduit of information.
It is a conduit of connection.” — Tracy Stackhouse

What if connection isn’t just a skill — but a neurophysiological process?

Polyvagal Theory shows us that our nervous system is constantly detecting cues of safety and threat — shaping how we relate, respond, and engage with others.

In The Polyvagal Certificate Course, offered only at PVI, you’ll explore the science of neuroception and how it underlies connection, regulation, and human experience. Polyvagal Theory is a deeper understanding of the mechanisms that make connection possible.

Polyvagal Institute is the Founding Home of Polyvagal Theory — and the only place to earn your Polyvagal-Informed Certificate.

People often ask "What is Non Clinical Mental Health Support?"

Non-clinical mental health support provides a safe, compassionate first point of contact for people who are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or simply needing to be heard.

It is not therapy or clinical treatment.
There is no diagnosing or treating mental illness.

Instead, it focuses on human connection, emotional and psychological safety, and practical support.

✨ This support may include:
• Deep, respectful listening
• Unconditional positive regard
• Compassion-based and strengths-focused approaches
• Trauma-informed and culturally responsive practice
• Evidence-informed wellbeing and resilience tools
• Gentle reflection, guidance, and meaning-making

Non-clinical support can be:
• A first step before someone is ready for therapy
• A complement alongside clinical care
• Ongoing support for people who don’t require therapy but still need care and direction

🌿 My work is grounded in over 20 years across community, disability, youth, and wellbeing services, drawing on psychosocial recovery principles, compassion-based theory, contemplative approaches, education, and mental health first aid frameworks.

Non-clinical mental health support is about walking alongside someone — helping them feel seen, heard, and supported, without trying to “fix” them.

Sometimes, support begins simply by being met.
