Yesterday, we had the pleasure of joining Jacqueline Eaton for a community presentation at Brentwood Village, . Jacqui invited Mobility Joy to present to residents on one of the most practical topics for staying independent at home - .

We covered:
βœ… What is a mobility aid?
βœ… The range of options available, from walking aids and frames, to rollators, wheelchairs, pushchairs, and mobility scooters - each suited to different needs, distances, and lifestyles.
βœ… Powered options like wheelchairs and scooters are great for longer distances and conserving energy - though as Jacqui noted, avoiding over-reliance where possible keeps people moving and stronger for longer.

The residents were an engaged and thoughtful audience. Their questions reflected something we see time and again - that people want to understand their options, make informed decisions, and take an active role in maintaining their independence πŸ‘

A big thank you to Jacqui and the team at PHYSIO FOR YOU LTD, and to the community at Brentwood Village and Keyton for having us.

If you work with older adults or community members navigating - we'd love to connect!

A great wrap up to yesterday's CPD clinical training! πŸ™Œ

The session was incredibly well put together! A genuine thank you to Medifab Ltd, Edward Milner, and Stephanie Bell for delivering such a valuable and practical training experience for our local OT community.

A special mention to Ed, who travelled all the way from Brisbane to present - that level of dedication to supporting clinicians on the Central Coast is truly appreciated! ❀️

It was also a great reminder of the appetite for quality CPD right here on the Central Coast. Several OTs shared that until now they've had to travel as far as Sydney or Newcastle to access this kind of training - so making it accessible in our community is what drives everything we do.

We look forward to bringing more opportunities like this to the region. πŸ’ͺ

Juan is at the Robina Town Centre today with the HandyScoot. Come say hi if you're nearby! 😁

It's always a great reminder of why this little scooter has become such a favourite among travellers and cruise goers. Folds down in seconds, light enough to lift into a car boot or overhead locker, and airline-approved. If you're around Robina today, pop past and we will show you how it works in person.

And if you're heading to the ATSA - Assistive Technology Suppliers Australia Independent Living Expo in Brisbane tomorrow, come find us there too - we'd love to connect and chat about what independence can look like for the people you support πŸ’―

Free 3-day trials available. DM me or use the link in the comments to book one in!

What if your client could fold their mobility scooter in seconds, carry it onto a plane, and keep living the life they planned?

That’s the conversation I’m looking forward to having on Tuesday 12th of May with the team at Verve OT Learning!

I’m presenting HandyScoot as part of their AT Connect webinar series - a free, 45-minute live session exclusive to OTs, 12:00–12:45pm AEST via Zoom.

This session is especially relevant if you work with clients in NDIS, aged care, Support at Home, or insurance rehab who are endurance-limited but still want full community participation.

Free to attend. Drop a comment if you’re joining - and find the registration link in our bio! πŸ”—

Motor brushes at 60%. Tyre pressure 8 PSI under spec. Salt corrosion on the steering column. This scooter looked fine. It wasn't.

We just completed a full service on a Merits Interceptor. Here's what that actually looks like.

βœ… Battery voltage balance tested with calibrated multimeters.
βœ… Slow discharge test on both 75Ah batteries - printed report for the client.
βœ… Motor brushes replaced - 60% is close enough.
βœ… Commutator checked for carbon buildup.
βœ… Every electrical terminal tightened.
βœ… Tyres set to 32 PSI - under-inflation drains batteries faster than most people realise.

The details that look minor are the ones that prevent someone getting stranded away from home.

OTs and NDIS participants - proper servicing extends lifespan, cuts emergency costs, and keeps clients mobile between replacement cycles.

His smile when he took it for a spin said everything. 😊

Stephen Palmer just took delivery of his scripted Quickie Q300 M, and we couldn't be more stoked for him 😍

This isn't just a powerchair off the shelf. Stephen's chair was fully scripted with a Jay back and Spex cushion as part of a complete complex seating and positioning solution - crash tested and cleared for four-point tie-down transit.

Sunrise Medical's Q300 M is a serious chair. True mid-wheel drive gives it one of the tightest turning circles on the market, compact enough for the most challenging indoor spaces, and capable enough to handle real outdoor terrain. It's the kind of setup that genuinely expands what's possible in a person's day.

If you or a client is exploring scripted powerchair options under NDIS or DVA, we'd love to help. In-home trials available across the Central Coast.

This April, we are thinking of everyone on the Central Coast living with Parkinson's - and the families, carers, and friends walking alongside them every day.

Parkinson's looks different for everyone. But one thing we hear consistently from the people we work with is this - staying independent, staying connected, and staying in your own home for as long as possible matters deeply.

That's something we take seriously at Mobility Joy ❀️

Whether it's a lift chair that makes mornings easier, a scooter that gets you back out into the community, or a powerchair that keeps up as needs change - we're here to help find what works for your situation.

If you or someone you love is living with Parkinson's and you'd like to explore your options, come into one of our showrooms or give us a call.

In-home consultations and equipment trials are available across the Central Coast.

A little overdue - but we couldn't let this one slide! 😍

Congratulations to Ilse Faccin - the lucky winner of the iCare Cloud Pillow from our giveaway at the Central Coast Aged Care Expo back in March.

The iCare Cloud Pillow designed for comfort, support, and pressure management.

To everyone who stopped by our stand at the Expo - thank you. The conversations we had that day reminded us exactly why we do what we do at ❀️

We're already looking forward to the next one πŸ‘€
