Last week, we were honoured to welcome The Hon Emma McBride MP McBride MP, Assistant Minister for Mental Health and Su***de Prevention, and Senator the Hon Senator Malarndirri McCarthy - Northern Territory, Minister for Indigenous Australians, to Lifeline Australia's Sydney office to meet with the 13YARN team.

We spoke about the growth of the service over the past 4 years of operation and the recent funding announcement to launch a 13YARN text service which will be a significant next step in closing the su***de gap for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

These are the conversations that matter. We are grateful to both Ministers for their time, their commitment, and their belief in what 13YARN is building.

Close the Gap Day brings awareness of the inequalities and intergenerational problems such as health, education, and the large life expectancy gap of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people. Emphasising health as a human right, we must work together to Close the Gap for a better future for our people.
