Sometimes the answers are so simple we miss them completely …
If you’ve ever thought that a probiotic will be the one answer to your tummy troubles, but when you take them, you notice no difference ~ you’re not alone.
Many of us already have a robust gut microbiome. Sometimes the root cause of our digestive upset may relate to other factors such as dehydration, stress, or consuming too many overly processed foods and drinks.
Unless there is a clear microbiome imbalance, supplementing with probiotics might be an unproductive way to try and reach to the root cause of an issue.
In our clinic, we often see that it’s the daily lifestyle factors that, when tweaked, can bring about the most drastic difference in digestive comfort and functioning.
We like to remind our patients that the body has an innate ability to balance and replenish itself as required. Our role is to simply provide the right conditions for this to take place (consuming high quality produce, hydrating appropriately and resting well).
There is a very valuable place for probiotic supplementation in this world, but its also easy to get caught in the fleeting trends and promises that supplements can offer.
Oftentimes, taking a step back and addressing health from a foundational level is the most powerful thing we can do.
