After transforming thousands of lives in 8 countries, Train Alta is coming to the Australian Combat Sports Academy!

I am thrilled to announce that I will be part of the coaching team for the Train Alta MMA training program officially launching at the Australian Combat Sports Academy in 27 June, 2022.

I’m really excited to be able blend my skills as a physiotherapist and strength and conditioning coach with my martial arts knowledge in this brand new setting.

👉 What is Train Alta? 👈

Train Alta is a 20 week MMA training program.

Meeting at 6am, 5 mornings a week, our team of coaches will prepare to get you in the best physical and mental shape of your life.

Training sessions will include structured strength and conditioning and fight skills training over 20 weeks. All sessions will be supervised by our experienced coaches to ensure that they are safe and challenging.

At the end of the 20 weeks, you will have the option of stepping into the octagon and having your first amateur MMA bout at a professionally organised MMA show! (Imagine your family and friends in the crowd being able to cheer you on!)

💥 How cool (or crazy?!) is that?💥

The 20 week program is designed to be beginner friendly, so you don’t need to have any prior experience or a high level of fitness (we will get you fit, don’t worry 😀).

So if you are looking for a REAL challenge and want to step COMPLETELY OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE then join me, Denis Kelly (Head MMA coach at ACSA) and our team of coaches at the Australian Combat Sports Academy in Thornbury for the TrainAlta program kicking off on June 27, 2022.

Return to sport and training after a break.

It’s a new year and everyone wants to get back to training and get on top of their fitness and sporting goals for 2022.

🙅‍♂️ Don’t make the mistake of going out too hard, too early.

If you’ve taken a few weeks off at the end of 2021 make sure you spend the next 1-2 weeks easing back into your training.

One of the biggest causes of injury are large increases in your training intensity and volume (also known as training load).

✅ Build your training load up slowly and steadily and you will reap the rewards for the rest of 2022.

📱 If you need help with planning out your training make an online booking or call today.

Happy new year, everyone!

QMD Physiotherapy and Performance is back open and seeing clients from today.

Isn’t today a public holiday? Yes, it is. A few of my clients wanted to get a head start to the year (and so did I) so I decided to kick open the doors a bit earlier.

It’s time to sort out those nagging injuries, it’s time to get stronger, faster and better.

Looking forward to working with all of my awesome clients in 2022. Bring it.

Book online or call today.

Had a bad day (or week)?

Turn it around with a good workout.
Move. Stretch. Breathe. Lift. Sweat. You won’t regret it.

As humans we are a lot more resilient than we think.

Often our minds will play tricks on us saying that we have reached our limit.

These artificial mental limitations can affect our physical and emotional capacities.

We tell ourselves that we have reached our limit and we can’t do another set, that we can’t go another round, that we can’t resist that piece of chocolate, that we don’t have the concentration to finish off that school assignment, that we can’t handle another lockdown.

In his book ‘Can’t Hurt Me’, David Goggins (former Navy Seal and possibly the most resilient person to have ever lived) presents his 40% rule. Here is an excerpt from his book:

“Sadly, most of us give up when we’ve only given around 40 percent of our maximum effort. Even when we feel like we’ve reached our absolute limit, we still have 60 percent more to give! …. I call this The 40 Percent Rule, and the reason it’s so powerful is that if you follow it, you will unlock your mind to new levels of performance and excellence in sports and in life, and your rewards will run far deeper than mere material success.

The 40 Percent Rule can be applied to everything we do. Because in life almost nothing will turn out exactly as we hope. There are always challenges, and whether we are at work or school, or feeling tested within our most intimate or important relationships, we will all be tempted to walk away from commitments, give up on our goals and dreams, and sell our own happiness short at some point. Because we will feel empty, like we have no more to give, when we haven’t tapped even half of the treasure buried deep in our minds, hearts, and souls.”

While it isn’t an exact science and the number may not be 40 percent, the truth is that we often tell ourselves we are at our limit when we are no where close to it.

Next time you feel you are at your mental, physical or emotional limit remind yourself that you are only really at 40 percent. This will allow you to access hidden reserves in yourself that you never knew existed.
