I have some exciting news to share with you all. I’ve been quietly working away on something that’s really close to my heart and I’m finally ready to share it.

After many quiet moments of writing, reflecting, and creating, I’ve finished a children’s book (two books actually) about intuition and authenticity. It’s a story to encourage kids (and adults) to trust their inner voice and feel good about being exactly who they are.

This book is something I wrote with my own children in mind, a way to capture the things I believe are so important for them to know. I wanted to create a story that honours the quiet wisdom we all carry inside, especially for children who are neurodiverse and experience the world a little differently. Intuition can be such a powerful guide, and even a form of safety, for our kids when they’re taught to listen to and trust it.

Alongside the story, there’s a companion book filled with simple mindfulness exercises to help children explore and strengthen their intuition and sense of self in everyday life.

While the books have been written with children in mind (9 years and up), I’ve also written them so that it can speak deeply to the inner child we all carry within us, as adults. The story shares 7 lessons about intuition and living authentically, reminders that I believe are just as valuable for adults as they are for young people.

This makes the book a wonderful gift for children, but also a meaningful gift to give yourself or to the adults you love and care for.

I would also really value your support in helping this book find its way into the world. If you see my Facebook posts about the book, it would mean so much if you could share them. And if the opportunity arises to mention the book to others who might be interested, I’d be deeply grateful. I truly believe this book will find the readers it is meant for, and that each person who picks it up will take from it the insight they most need at that time. The more exposure the book receives, the more opportunity the book has to reach the hearts and minds of those who need it most.

Books are available now to purchase and take home immediately. If you would like to place an order, please email me. Books will be available from my room, at the following prices:

• The Whispering Wild: $26
• Discover Your Whispering Wild: $22
• Bundle (both books): $48

You can also shop on Amazon. Below are the Amazon links to my books:

If you do read my books, I would be truly grateful for your honest and authentic feedback about your reading experience. As a dyslexic and ADHD writer who has chosen the self-publishing path, I know my work is both a precious creation and a learning journey. Your reflections will not only help me grow as a writer but also give me a clearer understanding of what resonates with different readers, and what doesn’t. While this book is close to my heart, I deeply value any feedback you share as part of my commitment to bettering my craft.

Thank you for being here and trusting me as your counsellor. I guess I can now also call myself an author!

I have been invited participate in a mini training series for Foster and Kinship Carers! I am VERY excited to see what Collective Caring will produce. Not only will this be equipping our lovely carers with effective training and resources to strengthen the caring that they do, but it will also provide a really great resource for the workers who are journeying alongside these carers. I certainly wish I had this kind of tool up my sleeve when I was doing my Case Worker role many years ago!!

Boutique

What a day! We had the privilege to hear our Collective partners share their wisdom and expertise as well as their stories regarding caring for children in out-of-home care. This will all form our exciting new online hub for Foster and Kinship Carers. We are so excited, and can’t wait to see how these conversations shape learning and practice. Coming soon, so watch this space!

It is this time of year that I enjoy reflecting on the year that has been. For 2024, I am finding myself feeling so thankful for the work I get to do, each day. It is rewarding, for me, in so many ways. I also get the privilege of sitting with such wonderful people in often their most difficult seasons of their life. I get to see a side of people that others never get the chance to see.

To each person whom I have sat with this year, whether you have been new to my practice or have been someone I get to journey with, for perhaps years now; you are to inspiring and valuable. Just as you are. I am in awe of the courage you have, the strength you may not be able to see yet and the willingness to face and embrace the ''clean pain' that therapy is. You may feel that I might hold the answers to life's problems but the answers truly are found within you and the work you do in the therapy room.

Thank you for your grace and understanding when things may not run smoothly, admin wise, at times. Thank you for your willingness to be vulnerable and consider trusting me to join you in your journey!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all. See you next year!!!

Please email me of you wish to make bookings for the new year. I will be delayed in replying over the break but will endeavour to reply as soon as I can.

54321 Grounding exercise

Keep your breathing slow and intentional while you slowly look around the room. You are wanting to bring your mind's attention to the present moment. Often the things we worry about are in the past or in the future. Bringing your attention to now is a good way to settle anxious feelings and gather your thoughts into the present moment. This will give your nervous system data that you are indeed safe and connected.

Give it a try now.

Say to yourself, slowly, the below things you notice (and try using your peripheral vision to bring the parasympathetic nervous system on board. It will help even more):

5 things you can see
4 things you feel on your body (feet in your shoes, etc)
3 things you can hear
2 things you can smell
1 thing you can taste

Notice how you feel after you have slowly gone through this grounding technique. Do you feel more in your body? Or perhaps more aware of the room you are in? How does your body and mind feel different?

I bought the counselling room a Christmas gift today!! This little fountain is so sweet! What are 3 things you can hear in this short video?

🌧️ Learning to Dance in the Rain 🌈

Life is full of unexpected storms—challenges that leave us feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or uncertain. While it’s natural to wish for sunny skies, true growth comes not from waiting for the storm to pass, but from learning how to navigate it with self compassion.

Good mental health hygiene is about taking small, intentional steps to care for ourselves even in the hardest times:
✨ Acknowledging your feelings instead of pushing them aside.
✨ Setting boundaries that protect your energy.
✨ Staying connected to what truly matters to you, even when others may not understand.
✨ Finding joy in the moment, no matter how small it might seem.

If the storm feels too big to face alone, you don’t have to. Talking to someone who understands can make all the difference. Counselling offers a safe space to explore your emotions, strengthen your sense of self, and find new ways to weather life’s challenges.

💡 Imagine what it could feel like to move through the rain with confidence—knowing that you’re not just surviving, but thriving.

You are worthy of support, and you are capable of learning how to dance in your own storm season. 🌟

If this resonates with you, I’m here to help. 🤝

Thank you for the word of mouth referrals!! They make my day and I appreciate them very much so!

When you are in the depths it can feel so hard and so alone. Therapy can help you feel more connected and less alone while you are in the depths.

Sleep! It is so good when you have enough!

It can be so debilitating when you don't have enough! We should be aiming for 7-9 hours a night. Fun fact: women actually need more sleep than men!

Self esteem takes time to grow. It is hard to grow self esteem while you still have people in your life who do or say harmful things to you. Come to therapy to help you work out how to hold boundaries and start valuing yourself!

Loving others and loving yourself is what life is all about! Loving others well, is not an easy thing to do, but it is much easier if you also love yourself. Can't give from an empty vessel.

Creating a deep friendship takes time and also requires a willingness to be uncomfortable, respectful and honest with yourself and each other. It takes practice... with LOTS of mistakes and chances to repair in between. This is ok because it strengthens your relationship. It is totally worth the risk of rejection and hurt and a sound investment.

She works to ensure that you feel safe, listened too and valued so that your sessions can bring healing and closure to the trauma you may have experienced as a child and/or as an adult. She works with you to focus the counselling sessions on the things that matter to you and what you feel you need.

Rachel holds a Master of Counselling and a degree in Behavioural Science (Psychology). Rachel worked in the Child-Protection field for a number of years and enjoyed supporting those who care for children in the Foster Care System.
