Nutrition for Skin Health — Avocados 🥑
A 2022 randomised controlled trial published in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology found that women who ate one avocado daily for 8 weeks experienced measurable improvements in skin elasticity and firmness.
Avocados are rich in monounsaturated fats, vitamin E and carotenoids, which help support the skin barrier, reduce oxidative stress and improve hydration retention.
This means the skin is better able to cope with environmental stressors like UV exposure, pollution and inflammation.
For barrier-compromised skin, premature ageing concerns, dehydration, or sensitive and inflammatory skin conditions, regularly including avocado in the diet can be a simple way to support skin function from within.
(Aim for ½–1 avocado, 3–4 times per week).
