Whiteley

Whiteley Whiteley – protecting lives and livelihoods since 1933. ‘‘Best practice” are two words the Whiteley organisation takes very seriously.

Because in the field of cleaning and infection control – best practice saves lives and livelihoods. And given how pathogens spread and mutate so easily, improving infection prevention processes has never been more important. Fortunately, under the leadership of Dr. Greg Whiteley – a world-renowned expert on infection prevention and control, best practice is always advancing. An obsessive focus on

clinical research combined with a bespoke TGA certified manufacturing facility has already led to many significant advances in hand hygiene as well as medical instrument and hard surface cleaning and disinfection. And these have been relied upon by healthcare facilities both in Australia and overseas for many decades. And today, more than ever, that has never been more important.

Why complicate what works?
Independent studies shown that Viraclean® and V-Wipes™ are proven to reduce the risk of environmental VRE contamination using a validated single stage process, without the need for traditional three stage chlorine methods.*

Today we recognise World Hand Hygiene Day, highlighting the vital role clean hands play in preventing the spread of infection.

Since 2009, the SAVE LIVES: Clean Your Hands campaign has helped maintain a global focus on improving hand hygiene practices and strengthening infection prevention and control in healthcare. In 2026, this marks 18 years of this important initiative, bringing people together worldwide to support safer care.

At Whiteley, we’re proud to support healthcare professionals with high-quality, Australian-made alcohol-based hand rubs and soaps designed to help protect patients, staff and communities.
Because clean hands are one of the simplest and most effective ways to save lives.

Measles is a highly contagious viral infection that spreads through airborne transmission when an infected person coughs or sneezes. The virus can remain suspended in the air and viable on surfaces for up to two hours, making effective infection prevention and environmental cleaning critical.

To reduce the risk of transmission, prompt isolation of suspected cases combined with thorough cleaning and the use of an appropriate disinfectant is essential. High touch surfaces, clinical areas, waiting rooms, and shared equipment should be prioritised.

Prevention starts with vaccination, early identification of symptoms, airborne precautions, good hand hygiene, and clear outbreak response protocols.

Proactive infection control measures help minimise spread and protect patients, staff, and the wider community.

On April 10, Whiteley recognises International Sterilisation Sciences Day — a day to acknowledge and thank the dedicated teams within Central Sterile Supply Departments (CSSD).

Often working behind the scenes, CSSD professionals play a critical role in infection prevention and patient safety. Their precision, expertise, and commitment form the first line of defence in ensuring safe procedures and positive patient outcomes.

At Whiteley, we are proud to support sterilising services with innovative surfactant chemistry designed to deliver critical cleaning efficacy without compromising instrument quality.

Today, we invite you to join us in recognising the invaluable contribution of CSSD teams worldwide.

Happy International Sterilisation Sciences Day.
