🧡Please welcome Saana🧡

Saana is our newest Behaviour Support Practitioner focusing on providing services in Perth Metro.
She supports individuals and families with a strong focus on neurodiversity, behaviour support, and meaningful connection. She works across the lifespan and values understanding how family relationships, culture, and communication shape each person’s experience.

Saana takes a collaborative, respectful approach, focusing on building trust and creating a space where people feel heard and understood. She works alongside individuals, families, and support networks to understand what matters most, adapting her support to suit different communication styles, strengths, and needs.

Burnout hits differently when you’re neurodivergent – it can be deeper, longer-lasting, and often tied to masking or constant effort.

If you’re recovering, try:

• reducing demands
• sticking to routines
• sensory-friendly downtime
• quiet interests
• doing less, not more

Healing isn’t laziness — it’s necessary.

Tag someone who needs permission to rest.

Working in the Wheatbelt comes with its own rhythm. Some days it’s early morning drives past paddocks glowing gold, other days it’s a mix of school visits, home sessions, and chasing decent coffee between towns.

There’s something grounding about doing this work in regional WA — the honesty, the slower pace, the way people show up exactly as they are. It’s not perfect or polished, but it’s real, and that’s our favourite part of country mental-health work.

What do you love most about Wheatbelt life?

A new year doesn’t magically wipe the slate clean, but it does create space to reflect, breathe, and set gentle goals.

In 2026, we’re focusing on accessibility, quality, and continuing to bring mental-health support to communities that deserve more than long wait-lists and long drives.

Here’s to another year of showing up for our community.

What’s one thing you’d like to bring into the new year?

Holiday stress isn’t always “just stress.”

For many people it’s:
• Grief
• Sensory overload
• Financial pressure
• Difficult family dynamics

If this season feels heavy, you’re not failing - you’re human.
Give yourself permission to take it easy.

The holidays can be tough for people with Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA).
More expectations, more noise, more social pressure — and often less routine.

If someone you love becomes overwhelmed or avoids activities this season, it’s not stubbornness. It’s anxiety.

Things that help:
• Choices instead of instructions
• Reducing pressure
• Clear expectations
• Letting them lead

Celebrations don’t have to look one specific way.

Share this to help others understand PDA better.

Hi I’m Ivette, Practice Manager here at WBP.

My job is making sure everything behind the scenes runs smoothly — so our clinicians can focus on clients.
I’m passionate about building systems that feel human, not corporate.

Send some love to Ivette for keeping the wheels turning!

Distance can take a quiet toll. When you live hours from friends or family, connection takes effort. Loneliness can feel heavy, but it doesn’t mean you’re weak.

Reach out, join a local group, call someone. Connection is medicine.

Our team will be taking a short break over the Christmas period to rest, recharge, and spend time with our families after a really big year on the road.

Behind every report, referral, and session note is a person with a story. That’s what drives us, to make sure rural clients are seen, heard and supported. We’re proud to walk beside our communities, not just collect data about them.

Tell us one small act of kindness you’ve seen in your community this week!
