It's great that more owners and therapists want to understand the lymphatic system.

Learning manual equine lymphatic drainage is an excellent modality to help horses when they have congestion of the lymphatic vessels.

Did you know that lymphatic drainage is no longer described as a massage?

While this is super nerdy to think about, when learning basic massage techniques (Equestricare Equine Sports Therapy has an excellent course if you are interested), massage is the manipulation of soft tissue.

Kneading, compression have been shown to slow down the movement of lymphatic fluid through the vessels.

Manual lymphatic drainage is a super light directional stretch. It does not follow the same direction as muscles, fascia and hair.

It's also a technique that requires tutoring with hands-on support, as it is not the same pressure as massage.

Becks Nairn was kind enough to come along to my presentation at Equitana and then came to my stand and it's been such a career highlight.

I love how Becks loves the lymphatic system and takes the time to share the importance of the system.

It's incredible what Becks finds.

Sadly I haven't made it to a dissection in a while but would love the chance to do a lymphiograph and preserve more lymphoid tissues.
