🌿 Hormones, stress, mental health & why early support matters 🌿
There’s been a lot of conversation lately about hormones, perimenopause, and women feeling “off” and I’m genuinely glad these topics are finally being spoken about openly.
One important piece of awareness I’d love to add (from a mental health and wellbeing lens) is this 💛
Many symptoms that women experience; especially in their 30s and early 40s, are not always hormonal decline. Very often, they’re the body and nervous system responding to chronic stress.
Ongoing stress can create symptoms that look and feel like hormonal imbalance, including:
• disrupted sleep
• anxiety or low mood
• brain fog or overwhelm
• emotional reactivity or burnout
• cycle changes
• feeling constantly “wired but tired”
These symptoms are real. They’re meaningful. And they’re often the body’s early signals asking for support, not something to push through or ignore.
From a wellbeing perspective, this is why seeking support early matters.
When stress is addressed early:
• the nervous system can settle
• emotional regulation improves
• sleep and clarity return
• the body doesn’t stay stuck in survival mode
Left unaddressed, chronic stress can compound over time and contribute to more significant mental, emotional, and physical health challenges later on.
This is where mental health support, nervous system regulation, and trauma informed care can make a real difference before things escalate.
At EKE Equine Kinship Experience and Carmody Counselling, I work with women to:
• recognise early stress signals
• understand what their body is communicating
• gently regulate the nervous system
• build emotional resilience and safety
• reconnect with themselves without judgement or labels
Support is available Australia-wide via Zoom, making it accessible no matter where you’re located.
If something feels “off,” you don’t need to wait until you’re in crisis. Early support is not weakness… it’s wisdom 🌱
