3pm–5pm: Bladder | Water Element
The bladder works with the kidneys to regulate fluids, store reserves, and manage the nervous system.

The Water element governs fear, reserves, and flow. This is a key time to support your body’s ability to cleanse—physically and mentally.

Tension, anxiety, or a ‘wired and tired’ feeling might signal Water imbalance.

🌿 Gentle tip: Drink water, take a movement break, or rest your eyes. Flow and flexibility are your best allies.

1pm–3pm: Small Intestine | Fire Element
This organ separates the pure from the impure—on both physical and emotional levels.

Also part of the Fire element, the small intestine supports discernment—what to keep, what to let go, how to make clear decisions.

If you're feeling cloudy, restless, or reactive, this system may be out of balance.

🌿 Gentle tip: Stay hydrated and take time to digest—not just food, but thoughts and feelings too. Gentle movement can help things flow.

❤️ 11am–1pm: Heart | Fire Element

The heart is the emperor in TCM. It governs blood and houses the Shen, or spirit.

The Fire element is about connection, warmth, joy, and spiritual expression. This is the best time to connect with others, share a meal, or speak from the heart.

When the heart is out of balance, we might feel anxiety, insomnia, or emotional detachment.

🌿 Gentle tip: Take a real lunch break. Laugh, connect, or simply be present. A joyful heart nourishes the whole system.

Your body runs on its own internal schedule.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), every organ system has a two-hour window when its energy, or Qi, is at its peak. This 24-hour cycle is called the Chinese Body Clock.

It’s more than just a timetable—it reflects the natural flow of your body’s energy in harmony with the rhythms of nature.
Each organ is connected to one of the Five Elements (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, Water), and each time period has its own physical, emotional, and energetic qualities.

By noticing how you feel at different times of day—or even when you wake up at night—you can gain insight into which systems need balance and support.

💡 How this series works
Today, we’re starting with the big picture: the full clock.
From next Wednesday, we’ll dive into one time period each week, exploring its organ, element, key functions, emotional connections, and ways you can support your health in that window.

Save this post so you can refer back to the full cycle as we go.

🧘‍♀️ Feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or just… fried?
In our fast-paced world, our nervous systems are under constant strain. But there's a way to find calm without numbing out.

In our latest blog, we explore how acupuncture and moxibustion support the body’s natural ability to restore balance. These traditional therapies don’t just manage symptoms—they work with your nervous system to build resilience, improve sleep, and help you feel more you again.

In our fast-paced world, stress and anxiety have become too familiar. Learn how Acupuncture and Moxibustion can help calm the nervous system.

✨ Moxibustion in Action ✨
Here’s a glimpse into one of our beautiful, calming treatments: moxibustion using mugwort.
In this session, we’re supporting recovery after surgery for trigger finger in the right hand (4th & 5th fingers).

Moxa (dried mugwort) is gently burned on specific acupuncture points to stimulate circulation, warm the area, and encourage healing. The aromatic smoke has a grounding, almost incense-like scent that many find incredibly relaxing.

Moxibustion is especially beneficial for pain, post-surgical recovery, and cold or stagnant conditions in the body.

Saffron + L-Theanine — A calming combo from nature

Feeling mentally overloaded or emotionally flat? These two plant-based compounds are gentle but powerful supports for the nervous system:

✨ Saffron — Traditionally used to lift mood and ease tension. Studies now show it may help reduce mild anxiety, improve emotional balance, and support hormonal wellbeing.

🍵 L-Theanine — A natural amino acid found in green tea that promotes calm focus. It helps quiet a racing mind without causing drowsiness — perfect for stress, sleep, or staying centred during the day.

Together, saffron and L-theanine can help calm the mind, support clarity, and bring the body back into balance.

We love this duo for times of stress, overwhelm, or emotional fatigue.
And yes — we do stock a couple of beautiful supplements that combines both, if you're looking for a little extra support.

💛 Always chat with your practitioner to see what’s best for your body.
