🔊 New hearing protection requirements commence on 29 July 2025 🔊

From 29 July 2025, Queensland businesses must provide regular audiometric testing for workers who wear hearing protection because noise levels exceed safe exposure standards.

✅ New workers — first test within three months of starting the relevant work, then every two years.
✅ Existing workers already exposed to excessive noise — first test before 29 July 2027, then every two years.

Did you know that up to 70% of lung cancers can be detected early through screening? 🩺

The National Lung Cancer Screening Program started on 1 July 2025 and is available for eligible Australians aged 50 to 70.

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in Australia, accounting for 1 in 5 of all cancer deaths. Early detection through screening can save hundreds of lives each year.

If you own or keep livestock, you must be registered as a Biosecurity Entity. Here’s what you need to know:

Registration vs. PIC? 🧐

Registration isn’t the same as having a Property Identification Code (PIC) – you’ll receive a PIC once you’re registered.

Why register? You need a current registration to purchase livestock identification devices.

✅ Who needs to register?

If you own or keep any of the following, registration is required:

🐄 1+ cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, bison, buffalo, deer, camelids (e.g., alpacas), or equines (horses, ponies, donkeys, mules).

🐔 100+ poultry or pigeons.

🐝 1+ Beehives (native bees are exempt).
