The power isn’t in the ceremony or therapy session itself - it is what happens afterwards.

You can’t rush this process. You don’t wake up one morning a completely different person.

It happens in moments. In stages.

The change occurs from the decisions that you make.
The boundaries that you implement.
The steps that you take.

Change isn’t easy and it doesn’t happen overnight. It is a process.

Don’t give your power away to a medicine, a modality, or a therapist - they don’t make the change - only you can do that.

Change your habits, change your life.

You can know yourself inside and out - but until you act on that awareness, nothing in your life will shift.

Don’t just think about making changes, ACT on those changes 🫶🏼

Lesson 2 ✨

Don’t take on the projection of others as your own.

Know yourself. Know your triggers. Discern what is yours to carry and what is not.

Strengthen your physical and energetic boundaries.

Recognise when someone is projecting their own pain. Witness it. Let it dissolve. Don’t take it on.

Hold compassion for yourself - and for them.

Don't allow someone else's projections dim your beautiful light ✨ Keep shining x

Lesson 1 - maybe one of the most important that I have had to learn in this lifetime ✨

Everyone is on their own life path and journey.

You can’t learn someone else’s lessons for them.

You can’t force someone to change or to seek help.

You can’t wake someone up until they are ready.

You can’t fight someone else’s battles for them.

Don’t get lost in the darkness of others - be the light. We don’t need more lower vibrational beings - we need hope, love and tenderness.

You are not here to save.

You are here to be.

Be all that you are. Your depth. Your beauty. Your passion. Your presence. That is what heals.

The moment you push or try to control - you push them into their darkness more. They feel it and they retract. They are not ready. They shut down. When you losen the grip, let go of attachments and just be - you can gently guide them with hope (if & when they are ready).

Its gentleness not force that heals 🤍

I “see” differently when I am working in the energetic space.

If you have worked with me in this way, you may have felt it.

My eyes “lock” on to the other person in a different way. It is more intense, more intentional, more present. My eyes piercing through your energy field, reading what you are not telling me and being guided to where we need to go.

This is not something that I set out to do - it just happens. It feels intense for me too. Uncomfortable at times. We are not used to seeing and connecting in this way.

We are used to hiding, pretending and connecting superficially.

There is so much power and healing in being truly seen.

When we drop the masks and allow ourselves to be witnessed - not just in our words, but in our energy - deep shifts can occur.

This kind of connection can feel raw, vulnerable, even confronting… but it’s also where transformation lives.

The body speaks. The energy speaks. And when we listen - really listen we begin to remember parts of ourselves we’ve long forgotten.

This is the work I love.
This is the work that changes lives.

Recently I received the news every community‑minded CEO dreads: Momentum Mental Health’s core funding for our Toowoomba hub—where 80 % of our support happens—is being cut.
Since joining Momentum almost two years ago, I’ve witnessed the life‑changing power of this small, grassroots team.
One story I heard yesterday from a client was: “I spent twenty years house‑bound before I found Momentum. Art therapy connected me to people again. I’m finally not alone.” She told me this through tears, afraid her safe place might disappear.

She’s not alone: last year 800 people relied on our programs, with over 7,000 attendances. Many more have felt our impact through outreach and wellbeing talks. Losing this funding means fewer sessions, fewer safe spaces, and heartbreaking choices for clients and staff alike.

I need your help. Please sign and share our petition so decision‑makers see the faces behind the numbers: https://chng.it/hSHFqJRQLv

Every signature is a voice for our most vulnerable. If Momentum has touched your life—or if you believe everyone deserves connection and hope—please add your name and share this post.
With gratitude and determination,
Shirley‑Anne

Sat down to write my case notes for today and this poured out of me me instead - the collective theme of today's session ✨

The Journey of Oneself

To be on a spiritual journey is often to question “Who the hell am I?”
What is a projection and what is real?
What is my past wounding and what is truth?
Who am I beneath the societal labels and identities?
Who am I without these conditioned beliefs and expectations?
Who the hell am I and why is it so hard to find out?
I take ten steps forward, twenty steps back.
I try to quieten the mind, and the noise gets louder.
If I am not my past mistakes,
why do I feel so empty?
The world is spinning.
My mind is racing.
I have been told to conform, to think and be a certain way - to be accepted.
I have lost myself in the process.
I want to burn it all down -
the layers, the projections, the outdated beliefs, the expectations.
I want to strip it all right back.
Bare it all - for only me to see.
Who I am underneath it all.
Who I am in the quiet of the night.
Who I am in light and in darkness.
Who I am before I lost it all.
And in the quiet…
after the burning…
when all that’s left is me -
I see a flicker of light.
Small, but steady.
And I remember:
I was never truly lost.
Only buried.

CONNECTION.

PRESENCE.

SPACE.

PURPOSE.

These four pillars are part of what makes time away from everyday life so special. I noticed many similarities between my week on Kokoda and our healing retreats.

Everyone is present. No one is sitting on their phones. Outside distraction is minimal. There is a shared purpose and goal. There is time and space to just be. To be in the silence. To be in your own thoughts. To connect deeply with another - without the need to rush off to the next thing.

Everyone misses this when they return from something so epic. But why does it have to be this way?

Why has our norm become so far from this state of presence and connection?

Most people who feel unfulfilled are missing these four things.

It is time to WAKE UP - put down the phone, don’t sweat the small things, turn inwards, be truly present with those around you, and live!

Time will continue to pass you by - now is your time to make the changes you so desperately need.

You don’t need a jungle trek or a retreat to feel alive again.

You just need to be willing to call yourself out.

✨Where are you keeping yourself trapped in a way of surviving?

Start small.
Start today.
Start by being present.

One thing I am changing after my week in the jungle is:

A commitment to chasing more “dolphin yes” moments.

This is a term that stuck with my husband and me after our four-month caravan adventure. Whenever I saw dolphins, we would have to pull the van over, and I would be in that water without a second thought - fully clothed and living my best life. Pure elation. Pure Joy.

I have spent the last few days reflecting on the feeling that I had at the top of the mountain after we had finished our quest. My heart was literally bursting. A feeling like no other.

You don’t get these feelings, if you are numb to life. When you suppress the difficult emotions, you also suppress the “good”.

These moments and feelings don’t come by staying in your comfort zone. You don’t experience this by sitting on the couch and scrolling on your phone.

These moments come when you push the limits, when you take a risk, when you allow yourself to be vulnerable, exposed and open hearted.

These moments come when you are fully present and embodied.

This has reminded me of why I never want to stop working with a client when they are “symptom free”. I have always said why stop there, the other side to that is where the magic happens. I always ask “how good can it get!?!”.

This is also why I will ALWAYS continue to do the inner and outer work. Dolphin yes moments - I am coming for you 🐬

So many lessons learnt along the track of Kokoda but I thought I would share this note & lesson from day 3.

Lesson 3:

You are worthy of receiving support too.

I was gifted the walking brother that I didn’t know that I needed. Towards the end of day 3, I stopped to really let the support that my walking brother was giving me sink in. All day he was saying words, I so often say to my clients.

Don’t worry, I have got you!

My job is to keep you safe.

I’m here.

He then started to sing one of the songs I play so often at retreats and in my healing sessions - Oceans by Hillsong.

Message received. It is a beautiful thing to receive support 🫶

Then on Day 4 after conquering what was probably the hardest part of the trip - scaling up a waterfall! - he asked me if I would like him to carve me a stick with the word courage on it. Courage is my word and intention for this year. So many beautiful synchronicities 🦋

We’re proud to share that we’ve raised over $145,000 for so far! 🙌

These funds are critical in keeping free, life-changing mental health support available to people across our region.

With just days to go, now’s the time to get behind the cause.

Every donation - no matter the size - fuels our trekkers as we take on this challenge and helps change lives for the better.
