National Aged Care Nurses Day 💙

Today we’re raising a milkshake (or two) to the incredible nurses who care for our elders!

Aged care nursing is a special kind of discipline.

It demands the sharpness and responsiveness of acute care, while holding space for something far deeper – it’s the privilege of forming genuine, lasting relationships with those who don’t just receive care in this setting, but call it home.

That balance is no small thing.

This is a home that truly gets it: the importance of connection. Of continuity. Of creating an environment where staff and residents flourish together.

Beginning your career as a nurse can be a wild ride. There's so much to learn!

We are putting together a 'New Nurse Survival Guide' and we want to hear from you: what do you wish someone had told you, or what do you wish you had known, your first month on the job?

We want to share ords of wisdom from nurses who’ve been there.

E.g. “Bring snacks. Hydrate. P*e when you get the chance — not when it’s convenient.”

“Night shift will mess with your emotions. You’re not broken. You're tired.”

Shout Out to the Toowoomba Basketball Mountaineer Women’s team, who won their first Grand Final in over 50 years last weekend!

On the Court in the Number 13 jersey was also one of our Clinicians, Kim Wilson, who is also a veteran player.

A phenomenal communicator on the court, she’s the first to celebrate her teammates and brings incredibly high energy and uplifting spirit to the team (and the crowd).

Not only does she display this on the court, but also in a clinical setting.

Well done to Kim and the whole team on your achievements!
