🔹 They analyse the scan in detail and look for anything important
🔹 A report is prepared and sent to your referring doctor

From there, your doctor will talk you through the results and next steps.

Do you need to do anything before your scan?

It depends on the type of imaging you’re having.

Some scans require no preparation at all, while others might involve things like:
▫️ Fasting for a few hours
▫️ Drinking water beforehand
▫️ Avoiding certain foods or medications

Your referring doctor or our team will let you know exactly what’s needed.

Ever wondered why your doctor sends you for an X-ray, CT scan or MRI?

Here’s a simple way to think about it:

🔹 X-rays look at bones and dense structures, helping detect things like fractures or infections
🔹 CT scans give detailed cross-sectional images of the body, including organs, bones, bleeding and tumours
🔹 MRI scans show high-detail images of soft tissues like the brain, spine, joints and organs

Each type of imaging offers a different perspective, helping your doctor get a clearer picture of what’s going on and provide the right information for your care.

Your GP or specialist will choose the most appropriate scan and include this on your referral, and when you arrive, our team will guide you through exactly what to expect.
