CRADLE CAP // Did you know that tallow balm, particularly when whipped and combined with ingredients like olive or jojoba oil, can be a helpful natural remedy for cradle cap?
The balm's moisturising and nourishing properties help to soften the dry, flaky patches, while the gentle brushing helps to remove loosened flakes.
Here's how to use it:
1. Clean Hands:
Start with clean hands to minimise the risk of introducing bacteria.
2. Warm and Apply:
Warm a small amount of tallow balm between your fingers and gently massage it onto the affected areas of your baby's scalp.
3. Soaking Time:
Allow the tallow balm to sit on the scalp for 15-30 minutes, or even overnight for more stubborn cases.
4. Gentle Removal:
After the balm has softened the flakes, gently brush them away using a soft baby brush or a silicone scalp massager. Avoid picking or scraping.
5. Rinse and Dry:
Wash the scalp with water (or if you prefer, a mild and low tox baby shampoo and pat dry with a soft towel.
6. Repeat as Needed:
Repeat this process as needed, typically a few times a week, until the cradle cap is gone.
Hope this helps!
