It's all happening at Greater Heights!

Our Greater Heights Family is Growing!

We have some exciting news at Greater Heights. Our OT, Chelsea, is off on maternity leave to have her third baby. We can’t wait to meet her little one in the very near future.

Our Speechie, Jo, has also announced that she will be welcoming her first baby in December. She will be heading off on maternity leave in November.

Congratulations Chelsea and Jo! We love having more children around our clinic.

While our team's families are growing, we are planning to grow too. We are looking to hire both an Occupational Therapist and a Speech Pathologist to join the Greater Heights team on a permanent, ongoing basis. If you know any amazing therapists who are looking for a new role in a fun, flexible workplace, please send them our way.

Here's Humphrey!

Humphrey met his namesake on the weekend! We were out and about focusing on 'coffee shop training' when we came across the original Humphrey B Bear. I know many of you are getting impatient to see Humphrey's arrival in the clinic. We will be working hard over Easter to finalise all of his assessment videos so he can be fully qualified as a therapy dog as soon as possible.

Welcome to Fiona!

Greater Heights Therapy Services is thrilled to be welcoming Fiona Whitmee back to Toowoomba!

Fiona is a Certified Practising Speech Pathologist and a Hanen Certified Speech Pathologist who has over 30 years of experience working with a wide range of paediatric clients and their families.

Fiona is a dedicated Speech Pathologist who is passionate about the development of communication skills in children; supporting parent-child relationships through coaching and facilitating positive communication and interaction; and advocating for the communication needs of children. Fiona has extensive experience in the assessment and treatment of children and adolescents across a broad range of clinical areas including global developmental delays, late talkers, language delays/disorders, literacy difficulties, stuttering, autism spectrum disorders, nonverbal communicators, challenging eaters, and severe speech sound disorders.

Fiona provides therapy that is client and family centred and aimed at achieving positive, functional outcomes.

Fiona hails from Queensland and completed her education at the University of Queensland. Since leaving Queensland, she has spent the past 15 years living in Victoria where she honed her experience in early childhood and working with school aged children, both through her work and by volunteering as a Group Leader with the local Scout Group. Fiona and her family are returning to Queensland, and she is very much looking forward to being part of the Greater Heights team and re-joining the Toowoomba community.

Greater Heights Therapy Services is pleased to offer clients access to an experienced Psychologist each Friday.

Helen Hickman gained her degree from James Cook University and is a Registered Psychologist. She has over 20 years’ experience and is a member of the Australian Psychological Society. She has experience across a variety of workplaces including Community Health, Juvenile Justice, Child Protection, Disability services, and Aged Care.
Helen enjoys working with people across the lifespan and uses a variety of approaches in her work. These include solution focused therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Narrative Therapy. She has a special interest in the treatment and support of children, adolescents, and the adults who support them.
Helen has expertise in:
• Assessment and treatment of affect and mood disorders
• Psychological and Psychometric Assessments
• Treatment for sleep disturbances
• Chronic Pain Management
• Children’s school attendance
• Behavioural management strategies for children and adolescents
Helen’s goal is that her interventions with her clients lead to them living their best life.
In her spare time Helen enjoys camping, gardening, and spending time with her family.

The Greater Heights team is thrilled to be welcoming Joanne McMaster to our team at the end of August. The word seems to be out and Joanne's diary is already filling fast! So please get in touch with us on 46388596 if you would like to register your interest for a Speech Pathology service. Here is some more information about Joanne:

Joanne is a Certified Practising Speech Pathologist and a qualified primary school teacher who is experienced working with paediatric clients. Through her various roles, Joanne has developed a passion for working with children with a range of communication difficulties such as those who present with literacy difficulties, speech sound difficulties, and language delays.

Joanne can provide advice and support around foundational literacy skills, continuing to build skills for reading and writing, language, speech, Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), social communication, and much more.

Joanne provides therapy that is focused on her clients’ strengths, motivations, and interests. Her previous experience in primary schools has allowed her to develop a passion for and the skills to support pre-schoolers and school aged children to reach their highest potential. She is looking forward to joining our experienced Greater Heights team to provide a holistic, co-ordinated service to children and their families.

In her spare time Joanne loves to spend time in her garden, colour in, and play with her two cats. Joanne loves to share her love of Lego and board games with her clients.

Covid-19 Lock-Down was a hectic time for our service. I have relocated and renamed! I am now known as Greater Heights Therapy Services and can be found at Willows Health & Lifestyle Centre, 55-57 Kitchener Street, South Toowoomba. When you enter Willows, take the stairs or the lift to the first floor then go through the first door on your left. To come and see my rooms with views, give us a call on 4638 8596.
