This is called the Fukuda test.
It looks simple, but it tells us a lot about how your body perceives position and balance.
If your body drifts or rotates, it can mean the information going from your joints, muscles, and inner ear to your brain isn’t working as efficiently as it should.
Your brain relies on that input to know where you are in space. If that signal is off, your coordination and balance can be affected.
This test doesn’t diagnose anything on its own, but it gives us a starting point for what needs to be assessed further.
Try it at home:Close your eyes and march on the spot for 60 seconds.
If you notice yourself drifting or turning, it’s worth getting it checked.
