A new year often brings a renewed focus on health and wellbeing. January is a great time to check in with your body, reset routines, and prioritise habits that support gynaecological and overall health.

Here are a few gentle reminders for the year ahead:
🥬 Include more whole, anti-inflammatory foods to support hormonal and reproductive health.
🏃‍♀️ Aim for regular movement (around 30 minutes a day) to help manage stress and maintain a healthy weight.
🩺 Keep up to date with routine checks, including cervical screening and recommended follow-up tests.
💤 Prioritise consistent, good quality sleep (most adults need around 7 to 9 hours).
🌸 Be mindful of any new or persistent symptoms and book a consultation with Dr Homar if you have any concerns.

Congratulations to Mum Ashlee! Baby Elizabeth is just so cute. Thank you for the visit 💕

A gynaecologist plays an important role in supporting fertility by assessing reproductive health, arranging tests such as hormone checks, ultrasounds and semen analysis, and providing management options based on the results.

At TOAG, Dr Homar offers clear guidance and individualised care to help people understand their fertility and explore suitable next steps.

More noticeable signs may include persistent headaches, vision changes, sudden swelling of the hands, face or feet, upper abdominal discomfort, ongoing heartburn or feeling generally unwell. These symptoms do not always indicate pre-eclampsia, but they should be assessed.

During antenatal visits, Dr Homar and our midwife monitor blood pressure and discuss any symptoms to help identify concerns as early as possible.

The first 24 hours after birth can feel like a beautiful blur. Your body is shifting gears, your hormones are doing their thing, and you’re getting to know your little human. You might notice some cramping, tenderness, fuller breasts, or that mix of “so tired but so wired.” All completely normal.

Your care team will keep an eye on you while you rest, cuddle, and soak in those first precious hours. Every recovery looks a little different, so take it slow and be kind to yourself — you’ve just done something incredible. 💛
