Hi Magenta Fam, Happy Friyay! 🥰

Please meet one of our amazing Support Coordination participants, Jiaha, and his wonderful Support Worker Matthew! We’re so excited to let you know that Jiaha has created his own wood working business called Big J’s Wood Working! 🙌

Matthew recalls that he came into work one day and Jiaha said, “I have something to tell you…” Matthew says, “At first I thought I was in trouble, but then Jiaha told me all about his plan for his wood working business!” Jiaha and Matthew are working together to build up their inventory so they can have their very own stall at Queen’s Park Markets. They are currently working on charcuterie boards and garden planter boxes of all different sizes. Matthew helps Jiaha with the cutting for the charcuterie boards, with Jiaha doing the gluing and plating. ☺️

Jiaha says, “Working on the planter boxes are my favourite because I can do most of the work by myself.” The planter boxes came from Jiaha’s desire to help his Dad with the garden after he broke his hip, so they worked on making raised planter boxes to help. Jiaha and Matthew like to use recycled and pallet wood which present a few different types of challenges. Sometimes the wood can be warped, bent or even wet so they’re learning how to work with difficult and different types of wood. 😎

Jiaha first fell in love with woodwork while he was at School, where he first learned how to build bird houses. After School finished Jiaha was looking for something to do and he came back to his enjoyment of woodwork which inspired him to create his own business. We can’t wait to come and support you at your first Big J’s Wood Working Market, Jiaha and Matthew! 🥳

Hi Magenta Fam, Happy Monday! 💗

Please meet one of our amazing Lismore participants, Jacob! 😊

One of Jacob’s biggest goals has been to improve and stabilize his health and wellbeing. Jacob has been working incredibly hard and staying committed to his exercise and walking routine, with the goal of losing weight and improving his mobility. 🙌

Each week Jacob is visited by his Exercise Physiologist and with the ongoing support of his Support Workers, he dedicates time every day to walking. 🚶‍♂️

Jacob is so very proud of his progress, so much so that he loves to share his achievements with all our Magenta Staff and Office Team when he arrives on Wednesday nights for Games Night! 🥰

Jacob’s determination is paying off and we are so proud of his progress, well done Jacob, keep up the good work! 👏
