I want to ask you something honest.

Think about the last piece of work you produced with AI. Something that mattered. A report, an email, a proposal, a piece of writing.

Before you submitted it, did you stop and ask: is my thinking actually in this? Or did you look at it, decide it was good enough, and move on?

Most of us move on. I have.

And the thing I've noticed is that the brain knows the difference. Even when the output is technically fine. Even when nobody else could tell. There's a quality of satisfaction missing from work that was produced for you versus work that was produced with you.

That distinction is subtle. But it compounds.

I've been writing about this in my Brain Health series, specifically about what happens to your thinking over time when the collaboration becomes a shortcut rather than a partnership.
