Most women don’t come in saying, “I think my nervous system is dysregulated.”

They say…
“I’m tired.”
“I’m reactive.”
“I can’t switch off.”
“I don’t feel like myself.”

Regulation isn’t a concept. It’s a felt experience.

It’s your body remembering it doesn’t have to stay braced.

Spinal Flow works through gentle access points to support the system that decides whether you’re in defence or repair.

And when that system feels safer, everything else becomes easier.

Not because you tried harder.

But because your body isn’t working against you anymore.

Sometimes running a practice means having the same conversation in about 47 different ways…

“I just want the best for you.”

Which, in practitioner language, usually means:
please don’t wait until your body is completely fried before you come back in.

Your nervous system deserves support before everything hits crisis mode. Not after.

Anyway… if you heard my voice in your head while watching this reel, this might be your gentle reminder to book your next session.

Warmly (and slightly Kardashian-dramatic about your wellbeing),
Makayla 😅

Sometimes what we call “lazy” is actually a nervous system that’s had enough.

When you:
• can’t make decisions
• avoid small tasks
• feel foggy
• want to hide
• get irritated over nothing
• the overstimulation of everything.

That’s not a character flaw.

That’s a system that’s been switched on too long.

Busy mums are often praised for pushing through.

But pushing isn’t regulation.

Safety is.

And safety isn’t something you think your way into.

It’s something your body has to feel.

She… is me.

There was a season of my life where I looked like I was coping.

But internally, my body was carrying more than it should have. A prolonged period of stress changed how I felt in my own skin.

Tension became normal.
Fatigue became familiar.
Pushing through became automatic.

I didn’t begin this work because I had it all figured out.

I began it because I needed it.

Because I learned, slowly, that my body wasn’t failing me.
It was responding.
And when I stopped fighting it…
and started supporting it… things started to shift.

Not overnight.
Not dramatically.
But steadily.
I still consider myself a work in progress.

But I now understand how to work with my nervous system instead of against it.

And that’s why I do what I do.

If you see yourself in her, the woman who is healing, you’re not behind.

You’re becoming.

Today, on International Women’s Day, I’m celebrating the women who:
• rest without guilt
• say no earlier
• soften their shoulders
• stop earning their worth

The ones who are still holding a lot - but learning, like me, they don’t have to hold it alone.

Because regulated women don’t just survive.
They lead.
They connect.
They create safety for everyone around them.

And if you ask me, that’s real power and something I strive for.

I don’t think mums are always tired because they’re weak. I think they’re tired because their brains never close.

The shopping list.
The school email.
The appointment you need to book.
The thing you forgot.
The thing you’re anticipating.

Even when you sit down, you’re still braced.

That bracing?

Your nervous system reads that as “stay alert.”
And when your body stays alert long enough, it forgets how to soften.
This work isn’t about fixing you.
It’s about reminding your system that it’s allowed to stand down.

What’s one mental tab you could close today?

Last month, I had the privilege of being part of the Spinal Flow Technique team supporting new practitioners at the Spinal Flow Immersive.

Sitting in a room of practitioners stepping into this work - guiding them, supporting them, and helping refine their skills - is something I don’t take lightly.

I also remember being the student.

Absorbing everything.
Questioning myself.
Learning to trust what I was feeling through my hands.

To now be in a position where I’m helping mentor others in this technique is something I’m deeply grateful for.

Spinal Flow isn’t just something I practise.

It’s something I continue to study, refine and embody.

Everyday I see a version of overwhelm that doesn’t look chaotic.

It looks organised.
It looks capable.
It looks like school lunches packed and emails answered.

But inside?

Your jaw is tight.
Your breath is shallow.
You snap faster than you want to.
You fall into bed exhausted but can’t switch off.

High-functioning doesn’t mean regulated.

A lot of the women I see aren’t “falling apart.” Far from it. But they’re tired of holding everything together.

And your nervous system doesn’t measure stress by how well you perform.
It measures safety.

If you’ve been coping well… but not actually feeling well - this is your nudge.

Take it from someone who has been there… You don’t have to wait until it gets worse.
