Standing Together

In the wake of the very sad and distressing news coming out of Sydney after Sunday night, Breakaway would like to express heartfelt sympathy and solidarity with the Bondi community as Jewish families and friends gather to celebrate Hanukkah. This is a time meant for light, resilience, and togetherness, and it’s deeply painful when that sense of safety or joy is disrupted. May the candles of Hanukkah still shine as a symbol of strength and hope, and may the Bondi Jewish community feel the care, support, and respect of those who stand with them during this meaningful time. As we prepare for gathering with family and friends over the holiday season it is worth a thought to those who do not have the opportunity to spend this time with people they love. We should give thanks for all that is good in the world, celebrating the diversity of this great country and not engaging in the hateful and divisive actions of some who are in the minority.

If people are feeling like they would like to help lend their support for those impacted by the Sydney terrorist attack, you may wish to think about donating blood through Australian Red Cross Lifeblood located at 661 Ruthven St Toowoomba City. Due to the additional blood needs in Sydney, Lifeblood was transferring blood donations from multiple states to support the need in NSW.

Today our team came together for an inspiring workshop led by our Operations Manager, Rodney Watton focusing on what truly matters — delivering high-quality, person-centred services that create real impact in our community.

Through hands-on activities, group discussions, and lots of brainstorming, we reflected on how our daily work aligns with our mission and how we can continue to make meaningful, positive change for the people we support.

It was a powerful reminder that in the not-for-profit space, impact isn’t just something we talk about — it’s something we live every day.
