“I just want to do the right thing for my children”

How many times have you said something similar or had a parent friend express the same? As parents we want to ensure we are doing the “right thing” for our little humans. But with all the contradicting and at times confusing theoretical evidence out there how do we cut out the bull% #% #?

Simply put the good enough parent is one who wants to do right for their child, who cares, who consistently shows up for their child, who admits when they make a mistake and learns from this while attempting reconnection and finally who also shows their emotions and that they too like their child have basic human emotions.

If you can show up in the above basic ways for your kiddos as best you can then you are doing an amazing job mum and dads.

Physical activity (even as small as going for a walk) releases endorphins (chemicals that promote happiness) whilst reducing levels of stress hormones like cortisol, boosting our mood and increasing our ability to be mindful in movement.

A walk and talk session with me allows you to have a therapy session while being outside, exposed to natural light, and moving your body. These sessions are designed to make it easier to breathe and talk through whatever your concerns may be.

SOMETHING NEW IS COMING!!!

Introducing our new group therapy sessions for new mothers and their bub’s. These sessions will be a space for mum’s to come together and discuss all things post natal. If you are struggling after giving birth and finding yourself constantly down or worried or just struggling to find your feet in this new space this is the group for you. I have recently given birth to my second little one and look forward to joining you all to share and offer support during this wild ride. Nothing is off the table!

These sessions will take place on a Thursday or Friday, with times to be decided by interest. I am aiming to keep these sessions as accessible as possible so I am starting the sessions out at only $15 per session.

“I’m not an/the expert”

Is what I often hear clients say when they are about to make an important discovery about themselves or they are experiencing some self doubt about a decision they already have made. My answer or interruption is to always say you are the expert on you.

I am experienced in psychological interventions and theories that can help guide you to heal and cope through your concerns. But I am not an expert on you, in fact I have only known even my longest standing clients for a few hours of their life.

A psychologists role is to guide you, offer suggestions and be a sounding board to your journey. All in the hope that you will gain the skills to continue to thrive in life after our sessions are done 🫶🏻

What have you done for yourself today? 🤔

Self-care can be as simple as having a choccy treat in the middle of the day, going for a walk or taking a long bath. It’s important that you find what works for you as not one size fits all hence the name “Self-Care”.

Today I drove an extra 5 minutes out of my way to get a good quality coffee just for me. Take this as your sign to do something small just for you today 🫶🏻
