ble. It is no secret that Life is chaotic, stressful and at times overwhelming. As an experienced clinician and Human Resources professional, my business, The Sandalwood Connection, offers a unique wellness experience. This experience is individually tailored to each client and where appropriate, to support the needs and desired outcomes or an organisation. As an ex-corporate gal, I have been there and experienced a lot - the good and the bad. This includes a long and highly successful Human Resources Management (HRM) career, HR Consulting, Tertiary Educator with UniSQ (Toowoomba), Community HR Network Facilitator, and eternal student and loving mother of two. The flip side has included experiencing extreme overwhelm, brain fog, overworking, over giving, nervous-system dysregulation, and tip-toeing on the brink of burn out. These life adventures have enriched my capacity to relate to clients and their experience. They have also allowed me to build a small yet mighty business that aligns with my love and passion for assisting people to achieve their very best life. As your experienced clinician, I expertly combine science with heart, for practical outcomes and efficient and effective results. With The Sandalwood Connection, I offer our community more than I ever dreamt possible. Using simple, actionable strategies, in a soul-led and aligned environment. I facilitate clients to experience freedom, change and balance. What you desire, I will work with you, coach, support and guide you, to you achieving functional change. This image is so sad!!! 😞 Because unfortunately it is incredibly true that many of those among us who smile all day are battling an internal world of hurt. Challenges with work, family, relationships, finances, personal aspirations, societal expectations, physical and mental health … the list goes on and on.

If this is you, I’m sending you a virtual hug right now as you read this. I’m sorry you are hurting and I’m sorry that you march on and feel the need to hide your pain.

May you know you are not alone … any day, I’m here, and one day may these stories will be nothing but fairy dust in an old chapter of your life. 🌸 Old chapters that have given you the steps to climb to fresh, rewarding, new heights.

Do you get a case of Monkey Mind when you’re getting ready for, or just jumped into, bed? 🙄 You know that awesome busy brain activity JUST when you’re ready for lights out. 😮‍💨 It’s soooooo frustrating. 😫

This is the perfect time then for me to share that you can reflect on the day and events, sans emotions. You can. 🙌

When dysregulated you’ll feel the big feels > anxious, overwhelmed, exhausted, brain fog, irritated, low tolerance and the environment will feel ‘loud’.

In that moment, the messy desk, dirty floor or temperamental printer will feel like the worst thing in the world and yet realistically you know it’s not and based on this you then feel worse for having a wobble over something that in the whole scheme of things is quite ‘small’. 🙃 The thing is, your body doesn’t see it as ‘small’ and your mind is pushing you to take protective action eg taking flight away from the ‘danger’. When you can’t exit, your body prepares to fight the threat and it has no idea that the printer is not actually a sabre toothed tiger who wants to eat you for their dinner and not worthy of your intense reaction. That’s the primitive brain for you - scanning for threats and making you take action. 🧠

You know what though, the brain does what it does and you are human. 🤗 In these trying moments your link to remaining balanced, calm and focused is tenuous at best. 🥺 You’re human; not a machine, so stop criticising yourself and expecting unrealistic perfection.

Go easy on yourself, focus on what you have an immediate impact on, take action on that or perhaps even just give yourself five minutes in ‘time out’. 😜
