Think all Pilates is the same? Think again. 🧘‍♀️

Clinical Pilates is very different from regular Pilates classes. It is individualised, rehab-focused and guided by Exercise Physiologists to ensure every movement is safe, targeted and evidence-based.

Here’s what makes Clinical Pilates different:
• Exercises are tailored to your injury, pain or condition.
• Focus on rehabilitation and pain management, not just fitness.
• Programs are progressed based on your strength and mobility.
• Delivered by qualified Exercise Physiologists in a clinical setting
• Can be claimed on eligible private health cover.

At Up and Active, we’re proud to offer Clinical Pilates to support people managing pain, recovering from injury as well as building strength and confidence in a safe and supportive environment. We offer both 1:1 sessions and small group classes, so you can choose the level of support that suits you.

If you’re looking for a more personalised and clinically guided approach to Pilates, Clinical Pilates could be the right fit for you.

5 things our Exercise Physiologist’s wish you knew 👀

Exercise isn’t about being perfect, super fit, or going hard every session.
It’s about starting where you are and building from there.

Small progress, consistency, and the right support can make a big difference 💪

If you’ve ever been unsure about starting exercise, this is your reminder that you don’t have to do it alone.

🌿 Behind the scenes learning!

Maddy recently attended the Research Update Conference, spending the day diving into the latest evidence on exercise prescription for women’s health.

Held at Australian Catholic University, the learning focused on resistance training, pelvic health, pregnancy, menstrual cycle considerations, and bone and muscle health across peri- and menopause.

At Up and Active, we’re committed to staying up to date with the latest research so we can keep supporting women to get stronger, move confidently, and feel their best.

When we feel stressed or overwhelmed, our breathing often becomes shallow and rapid. Taking a few minutes to slow your breathing can help calm your nervous system, reduce tension, and improve focus.

Try this simple technique:

✨ Box Breathing
1️⃣ Inhale slowly through your nose for 4 seconds
2️⃣ Hold your breath for 4 seconds
3️⃣ Exhale slowly through your mouth for 4 seconds
4️⃣ Hold for 4 seconds
🔁 Repeat for 4–6 cycles

✔ Helps reduce stress and anxiety
✔ Supports relaxation and focus
✔ Can be done anywhere, at work, at home, or before exercise

This International Women’s Day, we celebrate the strength, resilience and achievements of women everywhere. 💜

At Up and Active, we are incredibly lucky to have such a strong, supportive team. We feel privileged to support and be supported by women every day, whether that’s through physiotherapy, exercise physiology, cancer rehabilitation, pelvic health, or our wonderful administration team who keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes.

Today is about recognising the women in our community, our team, and the women we have the honour of supporting on their health and exercise journeys 🤍

Exercise isn’t one size fits all. ‼️
That’s where an Exercise Physiologist comes in 👋
EP’s are university qualified and have the knowledge and experience to use exercise to help manage a range of conditions such as osteoporosis, women’s health, chronic conditions (like cardiovascular disease and diabetes), injuries, post-surgical rehab and sports performance.

Individualised, evidence-based exercise, designed for you and centred around your goals. If you want to start now, we’d love to help.

2025 was a big year for us at Up and Active EP! 🎉 We opened a brand-new clinic, welcomed two amazing new EPs to our team, hosted a community open day, got involved in local events, celebrated Exercise Right Week, and added even more group classes to keep everyone moving. Thank you to our incredible community for making it such a memorable year 💪✨

If you didn’t already know, our EP’s love fun and absolutely love Christmas 🎄

So naturally, they decided the best way to finish the year was our version of the 12 Days of Christmas… so you’re welcome 😅

Thank you for an incredible year, and we wish everyone a Merry and safe Christmas ❤️

The EPs are now officially ready for a break from the camera 😉📸

Today we hosted our annual Sneaky Stealer Secret Santa . The team had a blast. The hot items this year was a flowering pot plant, inflatable ottoman and a giant Vegemite Mug! It was great to catch up as a team.

We hope your workplaces all have amazing christmas fun too!
