Did you know that complying with NDIS legislation is only ONE part of your legal obligations as an NDIS provider?

Many providers believe that if they follow the NDIS Act and Practice Standards, they are fully compliant — however operating an NDIS business in Queensland often means complying with multiple areas of Commonwealth and State legislation at the same time.

Depending on the supports you provide, your legal obligations may include compliance with:

NDIS & Disability Legislation
• National Disability Insurance Scheme Act 2013
• NDIS Code of Conduct Rules
• NDIS Practice Standards
• Restrictive Practices & Behaviour Support Rules
• NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits (PAPL)
• Worker Screening requirements
• Reportable Incident requirements

Employment & Workforce Laws
• Fair Work Act
• Superannuation legislation
• Contractor vs employee obligations
• Workplace bullying & psychosocial hazard obligations
• Wage and award compliance
• Workers compensation obligations

Work Health & Safety
• Work Health and Safety Act (Qld)
• Risk management obligations
• Home visit safety
• Vehicle and transport safety
• Manual handling obligations
• Duty of care requirements

Privacy & Information Management
• Privacy Act
• Confidentiality obligations
• Record keeping requirements
• Data breach obligations
• Consent and information sharing requirements

Human Rights & Participant Protections
• Human Rights Act (Qld)
• Anti-Discrimination legislation
• Guardianship & decision-making legislation
• Public Guardian obligations
• Restrictive practice authorisation requirements

Housing & SIL / SDA Obligations
• Residential Tenancies and Rooming Accommodation Act
• RTA compliance requirements
• Housing and rooming agreements
• Bond and rent obligations
• Entry notice requirements
• Repairs and maintenance obligations
• Resident rights and quiet enjoyment

Business & Corporate Obligations
• Corporations Act
• ASIC requirements
• Consumer law obligations
• Service agreement compliance
• Financial governance obligations
• Conflict of interest management

Additional obligations may also apply around:
• Child protection
• Medication administration
• Transporting participants
• Fire safety and emergency planning
• Incident reporting
• Report writing and documentation
• Behaviour support implementation
• Fraud prevention and billing compliance

Being “NDIS compliant” does not automatically mean your organisation is legally compliant.

One of the biggest issues in the sector is providers unintentionally breaching legislation because they were never properly taught how these laws overlap in practice.

Strong governance, accurate documentation, lawful billing, appropriate policies and procedures, participant-centred practice, and understanding your legal obligations are essential in today’s NDIS environment.

The sector is becoming increasingly regulated — and providers who understand compliance beyond the NDIS Act will be far better positioned moving forward.

Integrity Support Coordination is excited to now offer consulting services to NDIS providers focused on Service Agreements, documentation systems, shift notes, support documentation, and NDIS-aligned report writing support.

After years working across Support Coordination, provider operations, compliance, complex funding, and participant safeguarding, one thing has become very clear — many providers are exceptional at what they do, but are not always supported with practical systems and documentation processes that protect both their business and participants.

Consulting services can assist providers with:
• Service Agreement reviews and templates
• Schedule of Support development
• Shift note templates and guidance
• Shift description development
• Documentation and compliance guidance
• NDIS-aligned report structure and recommendations
• Funding justification clarity
• Audit readiness and operational systems
• Team mentoring and practical guidance

This is not about “perfect paperwork.”
It is about creating practical, compliant, and participant-focused systems that support quality services and reduce unnecessary funding and payment issues.

Supporting providers to strengthen quality, clarity, accountability, and integrity across the NDIS space.

Feel free to reach out to discuss collaboration opportunities.

I’m pleased to announce that Integrity Support Coordination is expanding to offer consulting services to NDIS providers, with a focus on Service Agreements, shift documentation, operational systems, and NDIS-aligned reporting practices.

Through years of frontline experience in Support Coordination, provider management, compliance, funding interpretation, and complex participant supports, I have identified a growing need for practical operational guidance within the sector.

Many providers deliver excellent supports, however continue to face challenges with:
• unclear service agreements,
• inconsistent shift notes,
• poor shift descriptions,
• documentation gaps,
• funding justification,
• report structure,
• payment disputes,
• and compliance expectations.

Consulting services are designed to provide practical, real-world support to strengthen:
✔ Service Agreement structures
✔ Schedules of Support
✔ Shift note and case note standards
✔ Shift descriptions and roster clarity
✔ Documentation systems
✔ Report writing alignment
✔ Funding justification clarity
✔ Audit readiness
✔ Operational processes

The goal is to support providers to build sustainable, compliant, participant-focused practices while improving clarity for participants, staff, plan managers, and the NDIA.

I look forward to collaborating with providers who are committed to quality, integrity, and continuous improvement within the NDIS sector.
