📣 Meet Our New Optometrist – Katalin Kruchio! 👓

We’re excited to welcome Kat to our team at Somerville & Merrin!

Katalin brings over two decades of experience to our patients, having graduated from QUT with First Class Honours in 2000. Since then, she has practiced across rural NSW and south east Queensland, and holds a Graduate Certificate in Ocular Therapeutics, a Practical Vision Therapy certification, and a Certificate in Advanced Contact Lenses.

Katalin is passionate about delivering compassionate, high-quality eye care tailored to each individual. 🩵

📍 You’ll find her at our Hume Street practice on Mondays and Tuesdays ready to help you and your family see clearly and comfortably.

Outside of work, Katalin loves all things crafty, enjoys staying active, and cherishes time with her family (including her beloved cat 🐾).

Farewell to Geoff – 46 Years of Dedicated Eye Care 👓

After more than four and a half decades of serving our community, Geoff has officially retired from optometry.

This photo was taken as he covered his equipment one last time – a simple moment marking the end of an incredible 46-year career in helping people see the world more clearly.

Geoff’s passion, care, and genuine kindness have touched generations of patients and inspired all of us at Somerville & Merrin. From first eye tests to long-term care, he’s been a trusted expert and a friendly face that so many families have relied on.

We know so many of you will want to join us in thanking Geoff for his years of outstanding service. Please feel free to share your well-wishes or memories in the comments – we’ll make sure he sees them!
