She needs to learn not to need you, they said.
She’ll never be able to stand on her own two feet if you carry her that much, they said.
You’ll hurt your back, they said.
You’ll make her clingy, they said.
You’ll spoil her, they said.

I said “No.”

My child is a confident, securely attached explorer.
She can stand on her own two feet, run, climb, ride a bike.
She is kind to others.
She is able to ask for my help when she needs it.
She is able to share her feelings with me.
She has a happy brain.
I don’t regret a single second of keeping her close and meeting her needs.
It was exhausting.
It was all worth it.

We came across this article the other day and wholeheartedly agree with the sentiment.

We aim to have an inclusive space here at Babywearing Collective Toowoomba and it doesn't matter to us what you use to wear your baby, as long as they are safe and you're both comfortable.

This is such a good read. Lots of good information here from Dr Rosie Knowles about healthy hip development!

Ergonomic carriers are ideal but so long as your baby is SAFE (baby is secure and can breathe) they are better off being in a carrier and close to YOU than not being worn at all!

We always look forward to International Babywearing Week! The theme for this year's celebrations has just been released... "Threaded Together". How absolutely perfect?!

The inspiration for the theme is said to have come "from the textiles and the weaving process for all of the carriers we use. All of these individual threads, once woven, create a material. All of us baby wearers come together to create a global community; we are united in the fact that we use carriers to wear our babies".

And what an amazing community to be part of. I'm so grateful for the tribe I have around me and the community we are building through Our Eco Babies and . . .

BABY WEARING ...Talk about a parenting life saver 🙌

There are LOTS of gimmicks sold to parents these days as the "must have" item, usually promising to help your baby settle, self- soothe, sleep longer and basically need you less!

Lets get REAL about parenting babies and toddlers for a minute, can we?

These tiny and completely dependant humans need us for absolutely every.single.thing! It is not abnormal, or a bad thing, or making a rod for your own back or spoiling your baby to carry them close or respond to them when they need!

Babies NEED and WANT to be close to their mother (YOU) and the longer we keep letting people believe that this is not normal, the worse off we are all going to be adjusting to life as new parents.

I want to help new parents with the skill of wearing their baby because that my friends is the true parenting lifesaver! Parenting is hard enough without being conditioned to go against the biological norm!

Get in touch if you want make life easier by wearing your baby (or toddler) because ... that's exactly what it does!
