🩺 All Hail Jess — Our Surgery Superstar! 🩺
(Okay, she wouldn’t call herself that… but we will 😉)

Jess is our incredible surgery coordinator, the master of logistics, and the friendly voice behind all those pre-op calls. Whether she’s juggling bookings, answering a thousand questions, or making sure everything runs like clockwork, Jess brings a sharp eye for detail, and a light-hearted touch to even the busiest surgery days.

She’s the behind-the-scenes magic that helps our surgical days go off without a hitch, all while making sure patients feel at ease and the entire process is smooth from start to finish. 🩵

Her ability to juggle it all never goes unnoticed and we couldn’t do it without her 🙌

💛 The One Who Holds It All Together – Tracy! 💛

Every workplace has that one person who’s the quiet achiever, the steady hand, the go-to for “where’s that thing” or “who do I call?” for us, that’s Tracy. 🙌

Tracy is our longest-serving receptionist, and to say she’s part of the furniture doesn’t do her justice! From the moment you walk in, she’s the one with the warm welcome, the calm presence , and a memory like no other. Names, birthdays, she reminds us to celebrate the little wins. Tracy knows it all.

She’s seen the team grow, change, evolve, and through it all, she’s been a rock. Not one for the spotlight, but it’s about time we gave her a little shine ✨

Thank you, Tracy, for everything you do, the things people see and all the little things behind the scenes that they don’t. You’re the heartbeat of the place, and we’re endlessly grateful to have you.

🔍 What is Glaucoma?
Glaucoma is a group of eye diseases that can damage the optic nerve and lead to vision loss — often without early symptoms. That’s why it’s known as the “sneak thief of sight.”

👁️ Who’s at risk?
Anyone can get it, but it’s more common in people over 40 or with a family history. You may not notice any changes until vision loss begins, especially in your side vision.

⚠️ Why it matters:
There’s no cure, but early treatment (like eye drops, laser or surgery) can slow the damage and protect your sight.

✅ The best defence?
A regular comprehensive dilated eye exam. It’s painless, quick, and could save your vision.

📅 Don’t wait for symptoms — book your eye exam with your local Optometrists today!

👁️ Flashes? Floaters? A Shadow in Your Vision?
These could be signs of retinal detachment — a serious eye emergency that needs urgent attention.

🚨 Symptoms to watch for:
✔️ Sudden flashes of light
✔️ A shower of floaters (tiny specks or threads in your vision)
✔️ A dark curtain or shadow moving across your vision
✔️ Blurred or distorted sight

If you notice any of these signs, don’t wait.
👉 Seek immediate medical help — early treatment can save your sight!

👁️ Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD): The Sneaky Sight Stealer 🕶️

Did you know AMD is one of the leading causes of vision loss in Aussies over 50? It affects your central vision, making it harder to read, drive, or recognise faces – but often creeps in without symptoms at first.

💡 Early detection is key – regular eye checks could help save your sight.

🔍 Look out for:

Blurry or distorted central vision

Trouble seeing in low light

Straight lines appearing wavy

👨‍⚕️ Book your eye check today – your future self will thank you!

⭐️ Exciting news! ⭐️

We’re thrilled to announce the first-time use of Syfovre injections right here in Toowoomba! 💉👀

💉 Yesterday Dr McAllister administered the first ever Syfovre injection in the Darling Downs Region, making our patient the second in QLD to receive this treatment!

💉 This innovative treatment is used for patients with dry macular degeneration who are at risk of vision loss from geographic atrophy.

💉 A very exciting milestone for TRES and a great step forward in patient care.

👁️ Just had cataract surgery? Here's how to recover like a pro! 🧑‍⚕️

Take care of your eyes post-surgery with these simple yet essential tips:

💧 Use Your Eye Drops – Follow your doctor’s instructions for antibiotic and anti-inflammatory drops to help prevent infection and reduce inflammation.

🙅‍♂️ Hands Off! – Don’t rub or touch your eye. It needs time to heal safely.

😎 Protect Those Peepers – Wear your eye shield at night and sunglasses during the day to avoid injury and harsh light.

🏋️ Take It Easy – No heavy lifting, strenuous exercise, or bending over for at least a week.

🚿 Avoid Water in the Eye – Be cautious while showering or washing your face—keep water out to lower the risk of infection.

📅 Don’t Skip Appointments – Your follow-up visits are key to making sure everything is healing just right.

🚨 Watch for Warning Signs – If you notice increased pain, vision changes, redness, or discharge—contact your doctor immediately.

Your eyes deserve TLC—follow these steps for a smoother, safer recovery! 💙
