At just 20 years old, Molly never imagined she’d hear the word melanoma.

During a routine dermatology appointment in March 2025, three suspicious moles were removed. One week later, she learned that two were precancerous and one was melanoma in situ. Because melanoma can become deadly in as little as six weeks, immediate surgery was necessary.

Molly had never used tanning beds and used sunscreen regularly.

Today, she receives full-body skin checks every six months, performs regular self-exams and knows the early warning signs. The three scars on her body are reminders of fear and shock, but also of strength, survival and the importance of early detection.

Skin cancer does not care how old you are, how healthy you look or how careful you think you’ve been. Knowing your skin cancer risk and getting your skin checked can save your life.
