It was wonderful to talk to so many future Allied Health professionals and hear how excited they are about placement learning opportunities.

At Flying Start we host a number of student placements throughout the year, and understand the importance of supporting the development of knowledge and invaluable first-hand experience needed to make great therapists in the future.

🌿 Low Sensory Time starts this Sunday at Leisurelink

During this time, we make a range of adjustments to reduce sensory input and create a more comfortable experience including:
🔇 No music or PA announcements (where possible).
💡 Reduced lighting.
🤫 Hand dryers turned off in accessible change rooms.
💦 Winter Garden Splash Park closed to minimise additional noise.
😶‍🌫️ Sensory area available in Studio 3.

Sarah, one of our Senior Occupational Therapists, was out and about last week working with a community organisation of therapists. She received great feedback from her presentation discussing the nuances, myths and evidence around working with Autistic family members in therapy settings.

At Flying Start we emphasise the importance of sharing evidence based information, and can tailor professional development to meet the individual needs of any organisation. You can’t stop the waves… but you can learn to surf.

The ocean brings barrels of joy, freedom, confidence and healing. Surfing the Spectrum share their love of surfing and the awesome benefits of the ocean with kids on the Autism Spectrum. They are a not-for-profit Surf Therapy initiative, bringing sweet and salty moments of joy and connection to families right across Australia.

The Freedom Sports foundation aim to foster inclusion and empower people with a disability to engage in sport. They believe that everyone, irrespective of their abilities, deserves the opportunity to experience the joy and camaraderie that sports bring.

Circle of Security Program - coming March 16!

The Circle of Security Parenting program is an evidence based program based on more than 20 years of attachment research. COS-P was designed to help you understand what your child needs from you, and how to give it to them! Often their needs and the solutions are more simple than we think!

Our program caters to parents of children of all ages, and although it's designed for 0-5, COS-P can help any relationship at any stage of life!

One of today’s team training activities was a reflection on the work we do using The Ripple Effect.

The impact of every team member rarely stops with the person the support was directly intended for.

Small moments with a child, parent, teacher or support person can have a big reach.

We are incredibly privileged to be in the position to influence so many lives.

Being trusted to create ripples like this is something we’re genuinely grateful for.
