We are absolutely thrilled to introduce Abi, our newest occupational therapist joining the CCOT team in Torquay. 🎉👏🏻

Abi comes with experience supporting individuals living with autism, ADHD, intellectual disability, down syndrome, pathological demand avoidance, and mental health challenges. Her compassionate and creative approach to therapy will make for a wonderful addition to our team. 🙌

What is taken out must be put back in. 🤲

This is often much easier said than done but being mindful and aware of what recharges and withdraws our kids energy (as well as our own energy levels as caregivers) is essential for regulated kids 👧🧒

Choosing to use the right words and language is so incredibly important.

If we can pause and think about how the old and often pathologising descriptors can be hurtful and invalidating we can then try to rephrase them.

The key to rephrasing these words is always keeping the persons positive sense of self and wellbeing at the forefront of mind.

How to teach independent thinking and decision making. 💡
