Beetroot is an excellent source of folate which supports heart and reproductive health and can aid in the production and repair of our DNA. It also contains a unique fibre which could help lower colon cancer risk.

A study in 2016 found that beet juice reduced the toxic effects of a commonly used chemotherapy drug Adriamycin (doxorubicin) in heart cells while increasing the effectiveness of the chemotherapy treatment in triple negative breast cancer cells. Beetroot is great roasted, cold in salads, picked as a side dish or juiced.
